The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.
If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.
HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.
All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.
The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.
To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:
You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.
Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.
If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

Congrats to all who received the scholarship!I don't think I got it and I had everything done....initial emails, VJ calling me, credit checks, contracts, etc, but have yet to receive anything in the email. I'm gonna shoot MC an email just to see if it may have gotten mixed up somewhere...congrats to all again!
Can u keep us posted on what they tell you for the sake of next years worrying applicants. With all the facts out there for them to read I think it will be easier for them to make assumptions for themselves.... Im hoping that u get an email soon!

Hi there, you asked me in an earlier post where in TN I'm at...I'm in West Tennessee and I attend Jackson State Community College. Where are you?
Oh just putting it out there for people who might be reading when they apply for next year that my credit had a "written-off" charge card on it that is fairly recent. The economy has not been kind but I still got the award email.
Also, I had to file ch 7 bankruptcy back in 2004 and I still got the award.
Im in Clarksville Tn. Austin Peay state University..... Im not that familiar with Jackson state or where it is... But I do have Google..lol
Well I sure do know about Peay...my A&P professor is an alumnus and I know of at least one student from here that attends there. That's a pretty big school. Jackson State is (i think) the largest junior college in the state, but since there are no living quarters, nearly all of its students would be from West TN.
My professor said that when he went to Austin Peay, they made signs at the football games that said "Show your Peay-ness"....heehee

I didn't show a credit check, but I also had written off credit card debt, and I also got the award. Now I'm really sad for those that didn't...because we obviously all need it if we were desperate enough to stalk this forum night and day. I didn't post much, but it got to the point I was checking it so much it was interfering with my studying...
sorry to hear you didn't get the award!i know it's hard sometimes, but i always try to look at the brightside of things. i think everyone on this board knows how difficult it is for new nurses to get any kind of job right now, let alone a full time job. people post on here that it takes 9 months to even get an interview. hospitals in many areas are in hiring freezes. it will hopefully get better soon, but it may get way worse before it gets better. that being said, hrsa is great to pay for 500 people to go to school, but at the same time they are pumping out 500 new nurses with a proce tag over there heads. 2 years of full time service and if you can't get a job in the alotted timeframe you have to start paying all that money back. it is more money then it would be with loans plus you have only 3 years to pay instead of the longer time you have for loans. since you didnt get the award look at it like you can take your time to get the job you want, or maybe the only one thats available when the time comes, be it part time or home care or in a private hospital. then once you get a job you love and works for you, you can then apply for the loan repayment program they offer. i don't know if this helps you at all, but i hope it does! good luck in anything you do!
