The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

Well, I never heard back from the powers-that-be. I guess that's my answer! Can't get the scholarship without having credit pulled... she can't pull credit if she's on vacation. No one else seems to be having credit pulled anymore either, I guess I could hold out hope that I'm an alternate and maybe someone will turn down the scholarship, but really I think this is just about the end of worrying about it for me.

CL never responded to my email which I understand if she is on vacation, but I also left a voicemail yesterday morning to JJ33rd to confirm if he is still my analyst and NO ANSWER AT ALL. this pretty much tells me I am an alternate and I don't u derstand why. Maybe is the price tag of my school. I can't think of anything else.

Me and you both!

I honestly don't think we are going to get a reason as to why we do or don't receive the scholarship. From a post I read quite a few pages ago, they did some kind of point system based on all the essays, letters of recommendation, gpa and everything else. I know we would all like to think that we had the best essays and the best application, but that might not be the case.

I personally am glad that this year they are choosing based on the application and it isn't just a random lottery pick like it has been in past years. I feel that I have a better chance of getting the scholarship when its more competition based as opposed to just being the luck of the draw.

Yeah I agree that we will never know why or why not we didn't get the scholarship.

Ok guys, let's find out between US (people who did not get their credits pulled) if GPA is one factor in the decision to award the scholarship.

Please state your CUMMULATIVE GPA ON FORM YOUR SCHOOL SUBMITTED TO HRSA (no prerequisites).

For example: My school counted my prerequisites GPA plus my first degree GPA, and that came out to a 3.18gpa. That is th gpa they sent to HRSA.

How about you guys? REMEMBER- CUMMULATIVE GPA ON FORM. thanks.

Uh... not sure... whatever a 3.4 across 60 credits (my first degree GPA) plus a 4.0 across 20 more (prereqs) works out to be. Probably a 3.4 or 3.5ish.

3.87 overall 4.0 prereq... Doubt it was gpa...

3.55

1 - You multiply the GPA by the credits in each case.

2 - Then add them together for the total quality points.

3 - Then divide the total quality points by the total credits.

Mine was a 3.3, but that didn't include any of my pre-reqs...my school doesn't add them into the cumulative GPA.

My credit was pulled on 8/11 I think. My last name starts with "H" I live in Kentucky, in a rural town and presently work in a critical shortage hospital as a CNA. My GPA was 3.75. I hope I get it, but I guess we'll see.

my gps is a 3.0, because im a transfer student and took my many of my pre-reqs at 2 other colleges my school doesnt add them in. i also have a prior degree, with my gpa being a 3.0 as well.
