The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.
If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.
HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.
All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.
The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.
To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:
You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.
Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.
If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

he told me that he didnt know exact dates because they don't tell them, but that he thought it was going to be soon like end of the month but no later then aug...so i dont know...just thought id let you know
We were told the same thing last year, but the awards didn't finally get sent out until end of September and into October. Basically the deadline kept getting pushed back further and further. Also, everyone doesn't get notified at the same time...the acceptance calls/letters/emails were all staggerd and there was no rhyme or reason as to how people got notified. So basically, I'm telling you all to be patient because it might take longer than they tell you. Good luck to everyone!!!
Where did you see that? I sent everything in one big packet... confirmation of delivery, Priority Mail, etc... I don't trust a government agency to put 4 different mailings together under my file! It said letters had to be in a sealed envelope signed across the flap, but I never saw anything that said the letters of recommendation had to be mailed separately.

I said I was THINKING. I'm not sure, but I was THINKING I read that somewhere. Maybe not.
I wonder why it takes so long for them to notify people of their award... or lack thereof.
Hehe. Maybe I'm just not thinking. (Or reading, apparently.)
Just curious if you remembered where you thought you saw it, really, since the documentation is still online and then I could track it down and quiet that momentary flutter of "oh sh*t... really?"
I'm dreading the wait this year; if it took them this long in previous years, without essays and letters of rec and transcripts, how on earth are they going to finish it in any reasonable amount of time this year?
Let's home a wee little bit of the stimulus money going to this program is going to hiring temp employees to speed up the tedious paperwork stage!

I read the same thing as you did too. I didn't read anything that specified that it had to be mailed separately! Gosh, now I'm hoping we don't get disqualified for incomplete packages and plus there is no way of confirming that the materials were received unless you sent it certified mail. I sent my package using certified mail but my advisor mailed her recommendation and the enrollment/acceptance form separately. Aaaaahhh...I hate the wait.
I sent everything in myself in one big packet except the form the school was supposed to fill out. My school is across the country and they notified us of the scholarship kind of last-minute...so I wouldn't have had time to have them mail it to me first. Unfortunately...thats why I didnt catch their error
I would like to get this scholarship but I have to admit, it worries me too. If one were to not be able to get a job in a shortage area, that is a LOT of money to have to pay back!
I'm already in that situation with a scholarship I got for teaching. Because there are no jobs in my area, I have to pay it back.
Hi...Britt 7I think your right. We have to figure out a way to pay that semesters tuition by it's due date, then if we're lucky enought to receive the scholarship the school will bill hrsa and return the funds to where ever it is they came from. Although the I'm not sure what exactly happens to funds that were taken out as a govt./private loan.
Maybe someone has an answer for this one: They received my supplemental doc. yesterday ( I know cause I had it tracked), I filled out the online app. about two weeks ago and from what I understand my school mailed in the good standing report around that time frame as well. Do they let you know or is there any way to figure out if your application is complete? I already know about the online one, it's all the mailed in stuff that concerns me.
Golden2010,
I tried confirming if they received my supplement materials and was told by one of the hrsa reps that they would not be able to this year due to the number of applicants. I know that the package I sent out was received however, my advisor sent out my letter of recommendation, and the enrollment/acceptance form herself...But who knows if the ever receive it! Yikes.

Me too. Even though I receive this scholarship, I have to rethink about it. I don't think I will get it , though, because my ECF isn't a 0. Anyway, Good luck everyone!!
