The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

Hmm...yall have a really good point about them asking us not to contact them. I guess I am being overly sensitive, feeling the need to defend people. I hope they haven't been slowed down. I paid my tuition earlier today and it's okay, I'll survive!

It's been a hard week....packing up to move across the country and leaving my friends, family, and my daughter's playgroup. Sooo emotional! I'm sorry Greek, I didn't mean for you to feel attacked.

Wow guys let's not turn this thread into an argument. We're supposed to be supporting each other not arguing...

holy crap! what has happened to our thread??? this is supposed to be a place to find support and to vent about our frustrations during a time of great stress. this scholarship will make any person exhibit a multitude of emotions and this should be the place to express them freely without backlash. myself personally, i have avoided making any contact with hrsa bc they said not to however i have received the initial emails in july which a lot of people haven't and i haven't had any mishaps with my documentation, analysts, etc. so i feel if i were in one of those situations bet my ass i would be on the phone and emailing someone.

also, i don't recall anyone actually thinking he or she was entitled to the scholarship. i believe people are just trying to understand the selection criteria and why some people say with lower gpas, 2nd degrees, etc. have received notification of being a finalist/alternate and others didn't.

so after my little rant, i say to everyone vent, cry, scream, cuss hrsa, whatever....but don't attack each other and if you don't like what is being said on here don't read it. it's as simple as that :D

Okay everyone...let's get past this...from this post on, let's go back to the way we have been supporting each other...we all want to be nurses and we all will be nurses, with or without the scholarship...all of our hard work to get into nursing school will not be brought down by not getting the scholarship...what happens, happens...have faith...we are much better off than some that did not get emails...let's keep it that way...we know that this career is not an easy one and we should not expect a scholarship that will change our lives completely and as great as the HRSA to be easy either...we can do this and we will all get our scholarship...I have faith!

Hope everyone has a great Friday! :nurse:

I agree. We have been so supportive of each other and I feel have formed some bonds although we have never met. let's stay positive in our paths and support our future fellow nurses.:yeah::nurse:

stop fighting everyone...let God work everything out for us! I still have not gotten any emails at all from hrsa and im in the 1st preference group from PA...but i wont give up hope. That being said, anyone in the same boat as me?

I know its unrealistic, but wouldnt it be nice to get a letter today, since this would be the same day of the time frame they started hearing last year. Plus, it would be nice to get some good news on friday the 13th LOL!! Wishful thinking :)

I am with you. I have been thinking if CL is really out of the office does this mean someone else is sending out her award letters, or has she already sent them out, OR does this mean no one having CL will be notified by the date they have set.

That's what I'm wondering

I am hoping that means she already sent them out?!? but i doubt it my credit wasn't checked until the 11th...unless she did half before and then the 2nd half that day. I am pretty much in the middle of the alphabet. I mean if she is done w/ her stuff there is no reason why her awards can't be sent out. It is only a 10 days early.

Does everyone think that they will start sending letters by the 24th? I really hope they do, I start classes on the 23rd and it will be so hard to concentrate on those and still have to wait to find out if I got the scholarship.

Is there anyone else on here that has applied in Kansas...just curious.

I know some people follow this thread that got it last year....a question for you:

Was there anything to sign and return when you got an award letter? If so, did you have a certain number of days to do this? Or was it more a notification that you received it? I know things change year to year, but I just want to get an idea of what happened in previous years.

I ask because I will be far far away from my mailbox if it comes (assuming they don't come today or tomorrow...which I heavily doubt they will!). I suppose I could have my sister overnight any materials from HRSA to my new place though.
