The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

She checked your credit today? Hmmm. Too bad I don't have a free credit report to use. I know I can do one of those credit monitoring things, but they are so hard to cancel.

I was going to cancel mine yesterday, but for some reason decided to do it today since today was the last day...I just called and canceled mine didn't even have to talk to anyone. But I think even if you use one of those I don't know if it will come up...It didn't get added to my credit report it just showed up on the inquiry as a credit alert.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday. But there is still some analysts out there who havent checked credit, like JJ3rd, and CF i believe. CL just checked this morning. So dont give up hope yet. I will keep checking.

kh also didnt check credits, hopefully they will today. we have to remember that each analyst has at least 100 ppl so give them time...

So I was finally forced to join this site...I have been searching everywhere to find something to show me that I will be given one of these scholarships and unfortunately, nothing was found... you guys are the ones that are giving me the hope. I have received the email, sent the faxed documents and am now WAITING...

Did you guys know that when you log into the HRSA website where you originally applied you can see some weird numbers at the bottom of the screen...mine used to say that it "Expired September 30, 2011" and when I sent in my documents it now was updated to "September 30, 2012"...It has like an OMB# and then the Expiration date...maybe that goes to show that we are going to be getting the awards and when it will expire...because I signed up to get the award for 2 years...after all, make it worth the money because your service commitment is a minimum of 2 years...I will graduate next year in December with my BSN (God willing)...:nurse:

Like most of you, I am going to have to take my student loans out but according to our "Student Support" office, they will bill them for the full tuition and when they get paid, they will give you the money for your student loans back and you can pay them off...don't know if that helps...

Oh...and my credit was checked through Experian on the 3rd of August...I sure hope that is a GOOD :yeah: sign...I don't have good credit but definitely no defaulted federal debt or student loans...

My analyst is CL and I have emailed her twice and gotten NO response and have left her two messages on her VM with no response...I will tell you that she did update her VM message saying that if she did not get our documents, she would call us and I got no phone call so...I guess she got them...

Hope this helps some of you guys...I hope we all get the scholarship because this waiting is torture!

The OMB# is a control number for collecting information. I suppose its like a license for them to be able to collect information. It's their expiration date, has nothing to do with us, unfortunately.

I don't know what those numbers mean but I don't think it has anything to do with getting the award bc I have the same expiration date and I graduate with my BSN May 2011. Not to burst any bubbles but that is prob how long HRSA keeps our information on file.....just guessing???? I would sure love it if that meant we were getting it:redpinkhe
