THe web pages says 400 new employees not 400 new nurses.

Here is an interesting article I found via Google with the key words, Loveland, Co Hospital. It is McKee Medical Center. It is in a small rural area of North Eastern Colorado and is part of the Bannar Health System:

Growing to Meet our Community's Health Care Needs

What's New at McKee? (PDF)

Banner Health is expanding with new and larger facilities, all equipped with the very latest in medical technology. We're growing to meet the patient care needs of the people of Northern Colorado.

About the Legacy Project

Through the years, McKee Medical Center has become a leader in providing the most recent medical advances and services. That tradition continues with the Legacy Project expansion, which began in late Fall 2003.

The highlight of Phase I of the Legacy Project included the addition of a new 120,000 square foot, three-story wing on the eastern edge of McKee's campus. The new wing opened in Spring 2005 with 29 new patient rooms and space for eventual expansion up to a total of 55 new patient rooms. All rooms in the new wing are private rooms.

Phase II of the Legacy Project will expand and improve a number of service areas within the hospital. A new 17-patient-room emergency department (ED) will be built adjacent to the current ED. All patient rooms will be single patient rooms, ensuring privacy and comfort. The outpatient registration and waiting area will be expanded into the old ED area, allowing more privacy and comfort for patients and their family members.

Part of the existing ED space will be remodeled to house a leading-edge diagnostic imaging tool, the PET/CT, an important resource for detecting and evaluating cancer.

Phase II will also include:

- A new hospital laboratory and pharmacy

- Expansion of the McKee Cancer Center

- Renovation of current operating rooms

- Update of the entire first floor hallway and outpatient lobby

- Expansion of the dining area

- Expansion of the chapel

- Completion of the pneumatic tube system

"We value this community and are absolutely committed to continuing to provide residents with the highest quality, leading-edge health care," said Richard Sutton, McKee's CEO. "Our investment in Phase II ensures that we will remain a state-of-the-art facility that provides the highest quality care."

A look inside McKee's new wing

The second floor of the new wing houses a state-of-the-art ICU (Intensive Care) unit. The new unit is designed with an "acuity adaptable" concept. This model allows caregivers to provide a patient with changing levels of care without moving the patient from one room to another. The rooms also provide an area where family members can attend at their loved one's bedside.

McKee was an innovative leader when it first introduced LDRPs, birthing suites where a woman can experience labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care all within the same room. The new McKee Family Birthing Center on the third floor of the new wing opened with 13 LDRPs and four post-partum rooms, with additional space for future expansion to a total of 17 LDRPs.

The unit also features a triage area, lactation room, nursery, two C-section surgical suites, conference room and family galley.

But we're not stopping there. The McKee Surgery Center (photo at right below), on the first floor of the new wing, has undergone expansion and changes including the addition of a new pre- and post- surgical area (left photo); sterile processing expansion; a spacious, new outpatient waiting area, patient/physician conference rooms, new pre-op teaching rooms and space for two future additional operating rooms.

The new wing also features a new morgue with a private, family viewing area, expanded Materials Management department, Information Technology offices and an expanded Plant Services with an in-house repair shop.

Planners for the new wing, worked closely with consultants from Hill-Rom, leaders in health care interior design, to provide the latest developments for efficiency and flexibility, while also focusing on sensitivity to patient and family members' needs.

McKee's Main and Emergency Department/Outpatient entrances have taken on a dramatic new look, while providing patients with more efficient, comfortable access in all weather conditions.

What else is new at McKee?

The new McKee Breast Center opened in Summer 2005. The comprehensive new Center includes: screening and diagnostic mammography; breast ultrasound; breast MRI and breast MRI biopsy; stereotactic breast biopsy and ultrasound-guided biopsy. Providing women with education, information and support is of up most importance.

A new Orthopedic Unit opened on McKee's third floor in the area formerly occupied by OB. The 14-bed unit features full rehabilitation services, including a rehab gym on the unit. All nurses working on the unit have special training in orthopedic nursing.

McKee continues its commitment to providing the latest in cancer care with the opening of its new Inpatient Oncology Unit. The 17-bed medical/surgical/radiation oncology unit has been incorporated into McKee's current surgical care unit. The unit provides a total team approach involving oncologists, a clinical nurse specialist, oncology educator and oncology staff.

Occupational Health Services recently expanded to include a clinic that provide numerous aspects of care for employers and their employees. The clinic has an onsite physician to meet the work-related health needs of area employers/employees.

As we continue with our expansion, we at McKee look forward to providing excellent health care, while adhering to the highest in medical standards.

In addition, McKee Medical Center partners with the Sunrise Group to provide the Loveland Community Health Center for under or uninsured members of our community. Through the fund-raising efforts of the McKee Medical Center Foundation, McKee recently expanded the Center by 4,400 square feet. The expansion adds a new pharmacy, new elevator, exam rooms, nurses' station, expanded waiting room, physicians' offices, restrooms and miscellaneous rooms.

A few years ago, I worked as an Agency Nurse for the Med/Surg Unit and Tele. My experience was positive.

I hope that helps you...
