Way back, government hospitals pays 8,000-10,000 starting salary, (Lucky if u got it ) for private hospitals they pay 6,000-8,000... Hopefully they pay good now, but most of the hospitals now are in freeze hiring ... due to the huge number of nursing graduates.

Hi aidzbelty, school nursing is counted as a clinical experience, you can take OHSC anytime you want and not leaving your job as a school nurse, and yes, you can take up Master's Degree, I myself worked also as a school nurse and while working on a school clinic, I took up my MA degree and then landed a job as a Nursing professor. You have plenty of time to do MA schooling and much better if you take some seminars for medical updates, ACLS ,BLS and other post-graduate trainings. Being a school nurse is fun, and you can study at the same time also. Love it and learn from it.

I like the post.I hope nursing students, newly grads especially well experienced nurses (clinical. academe, admin.)will take part for this and give such info's about the reality of nursing nowadays'. Sad but true.Nursing is a constant practice, cont.education. :)

Nothings wrong in taking up MA degree.. as long as they will benefit from it and gain experience while studying masters degree.. much better if they can finish it while they are still young... :)..

We r planning to move to NZ this year. I am a registered nurse in the philippines and just received my invitation to residence last month.can I ask some information re: how much will it cost to live work and settle in NZ??? dont have any idea regarding per hour salary and benefits especially we r planning to settle in auckland NZ...most of the nurses said that auckland city is very expensive when it comes to living standards.... thank u so much...I will appreciate your info's....

i work 12 hrs. a day 3 days a week...4 days will be devoted to my sacred relaxation......watching tv,playing computer games,listening to music and sleep....eat..eat......

-3 days of work,lectures and laboratory.... -4 days of relaxation( at least)..., preparing lessons,examinations and encoding of grades,checking of papers and nursing care plans.... i am sure you can make it....goodluck...

*it depends on your specialty and students to teach..i am teaching 3rd year nursing students and 8 hrs of work plus paper works is ok...d next day will be devoted to my relaxation,encoding of grades,if any, and reading books/article related to what i am teaching...nursing education is really great...you just need to learn how to juggle things and im sure evrything will fall into place....:monkeydance:*
