The Guys Club: Guy Students Come on In!

Hi All!

I'm a crazy father of 2 ex-premed who just recently turned down Northwestern to go into a RN program.

I already have an Associate in Science, but I'll be getting another ADN and then go to a 4 yr school.

When I went to an info session about the RN program ill be trying to get into, out of like 70 ppl only 5 were guys.

So I want to know are there any men out there?

I am male and a student - but in an LPN Program - Hopefully will go on for RN after becoming liscensed as an LPN.

I'm a 20 year old male in my third year of the BN RN program in northern manitoba. Only male left that is in clinical till next year. Start my med/surg 6 week rotation next week. Can't wait.

Med Surg was a blast, but a little messy, haha. I did my rotation at a VA Hospital and it was really enjoyable. I worked with a bunch of WWII and Vietnam Vets...awesome

ahah ya i heard it was a little messy but im not too worried. I'll probably end up working medical anyway when I'm done. Also get a week of dialysis in their too.

I know how you feel!. But I want to tell you you are not the only one, so don't worry.For example there are 4 male SN in my program and there are four clinical sites. each clinical grp has one M nrsng Student. It can be intimidating at times but I am doing alright so stick to the fight bro.

Hey Guys

I have a question regarding Priming an Iv tubing and the process of hanging the primary and secondary bag. I mean My instructor thinks I am genius in maths because i give the flow rate for gtt/min or ml/hr conversion right away without having to calculate using paper and pencil or calculator.However, she is always upset with me and i am :imbar because I always mess it up :banghead:with the process that involves gathering equipment, verifying IV order or physicians orders using the six rights and 3 checks ... of hanging the primary or the secondary bag. So please advise me if there is a web site that has a video clip that shows how to start and end this process or write me a step by step process, Thank you.:jester:

I am the ONLY guy in my RN class of 35 women! Yikes!!!!

Any suggestions on how to survive being the only male RN student out of a class of 35 women? :confused:

Seriously, take cover! haha. I am the only dude and I only have 12 ladies. Justbe prepared for lots of drama. Not between you, but the kind you have to listen about. Boyfriends, husbands, drama drama drama! haha. seriously, though...
