Nursing Students Male Students

Published

Hi All!

I'm a crazy father of 2 ex-premed who just recently turned down Northwestern to go into a RN program.

I already have an Associate in Science, but I'll be getting another ADN and then go to a 4 yr school.

When I went to an info session about the RN program ill be trying to get into, out of like 70 ppl only 5 were guys.

So I want to know are there any men out there?

Hello! Just passed my CNA skills test, waiting on the written exam results, but I am sure I passed that. Will be a LPN student next year.

Student at University of Alabama, will be applying to get into nursing school in summer of 08' looking forward to it. Good to see you guys

"The Hopefull One"

Hello everyone- I'm a 46yo about to start a part-time BSN program in Georgia this January. This is a pretty radical 2nd career change for me, which is one reason I'm going part-time to see if I'm 'absolutely' sure before totally committing- the other being I can't afford full-time...I'm glad I found this site, and I'm completely fired up about starting school. Looking forward to some lively discussions in these forums!

I'm a male ADN student. I'll be starting in 2 weeks at San Jacinto College in Houston.

Being the rare guy isn't that big of a deal. When I got my Vet Tech degree (vet equivalent of an ADN) I was the only male in a graduating class of 28. From what I saw in orientation, it looks like men will be mopre common this time around.

I agree. In my own situation. I'm in a class of 100, of which 12 or so are guys. They also tell me this is the most they've had in a class.

Hello all. I have my orientation on January 16 so I'm not sure how many other guys are in my program (ADN evenings and weekends).

I do have 2 kids (boys age 3 and 1.5) and would love to hear from anyone who has advice in juggling home, work and school!

Oh yeah, also have a very supportive wife! :smackingf

Are any of the guys viewing this thread going to Hopkins this coming May? I will be and am curious to who else I may see there.

what up fellas, I am just starting out on my pursuit of happyness in search of getting into a registered nursing school. I'm a 38yr old male who has started my prereqs. I'm taking intermediate algebra, Anatomy and Psych. lifespan development. I'm wondering if that is too heavy a load especially since I need to make sure I get 3.8 or better in all lf them classes. Please tell me waht you think. Also, what is the typical time for entering into a nurse program?

I didn't think micro was all that difficult, conceptually speaking. The problem was that it was a ton of information crammed into a very short period of time. I think it would have been much easier if had been a regular semester instead of a shortened summer session. If you did that well while taking both A&P's, then you should do fine with micro this fall. Good luck!

Hi twarlik, I live in seattle and was wondering if the adn schools take as long to get into as they do here?

Here's another one for you 26 y/o ex pre med as well. Im at Linfield College in Portland OR. Chose nursing over MD for the people, baby. its about treating the whole person not just the illness.

One more for the wall.

I'm a Registered Psych Nursing student going for my degree and I am loving it. My last few practicum placements have been excellent motivation to keep on going. Great to see so many of the male minority out here, too. Ratio in my class is 30 to 2.
