Problem w/RN's & CT's on clinical day
Wow. I guess that's what I get for asking for opinions. Uh look, aren't y'all being a bit severe here? I never said I agreed with my instructor's idea of how to run clinical day. So, I did as I was told, and got my head bitten off not only from the RN in the hospital, but by at least 5 here. Is this what they mean by "Nurses eat their young"? Again I say, wow.

Problem w/RN's & CT's on clinical day
A recent clinical day pointed out to me how lazy some people can be. We were on a Med-Surg floor for clinicals recently, and found out that SOME RN's & CT's think of Nursing students as a paid day off. In this semester, our instructor told us that AM care was not what we were there for, so we did not perform this task. Within about an hour and a half, I was being lectured by a particular RN, saying "that's what you are here for". Of course, when the client in the room next door put on his call light and started yelling that he needed help, the RN was at the desk reading a romance novel. Any thoughts?

Negligence From A Nursing Student
I wonder, how does one learn to do anything without practical experience?

Things you would LOVE to say to your nursing instructors...
To my 1st semester instructors... To my Lecture/clinical instructor; Thank you for being the tough but fair person you are. I never really bought into the whole "role model" thing until you were my teacher. To use a line someone else did here, I wanna be just like you when I grow up! Somehow, "Thank You" just isn't enough. To my Lab instructor; You're smart, funny, and I think the world of you. Just do me a favor, don't let the class clown bluff his way through 2nd semester like he did in 1st semester. It's annoying to work so hard at something, only to see someone who didn't work nearly as hard get away with less than stellar work. Besides, I'm tired of wearing earplugs to lab just so I can concentrate.

Hey guys....How do you all support yourselves?
I still work my full-time job at a industrial facility, due to the fact that my bosses apparently think enough of me to have adjusted my schedule to fit around my classes. The only problem with this is that it leaves absolutely no time for myself, but I figure that it'll all be worth it when I finally finish school and start working. BTW, my DW the RRT has been more that a little helpful with helping me get through all this. Don't think I could do it without her help!

what are the guys' reasons to become a nurse?
To be completely honest, when I first started thinking about nursing, it was all about the money. But as I go on through clinicals, I realized that for the first time in my life, I'm doing something that matters, and that's very cool. I just wish I had done this 20 years ago.
