I am not exactly in your shoes, but understand what you're going through. I am a nursing student having confidence issues. I'm taking A & P online and although I'm doing well grade wise, I'm not retaining any info. I'll need to retain this info for the proctored tests or else I will fail these tests! It's frustrating..... I'm sure a nurse learns a lot on the job, through experience, how much of this A&P is one expected to retain? Any idea? I'm afraid I won't know my stuff and fail as a nurse.

Hey everyone, I've finally decided to pursue my passion, nursing. I'm a 32 year old male who has his BS in Business Admin. I've realized I'm so over working in a corporate setting. I no longer want to be chained to a desk staring at a computer all day long. Nursing has everything that I want---- I can make a difference in someone's life, great pay, flexible hours, and career opportunities. Now that I got all of that out, I was wondering what everyone thought about me getting my CNA license while in nursing school? I'm currently unemployed and am wondering how to support myself when I start clinicals, etc. I'm now finishing up my prereqs and my actual nursing courses wouldn't start until Jan 2011. I was thinking I could get my CNA license and work 3 12's in a hospital setting while in nursing school (probably weekends). This would allow me to be able to focus on my studies and classes during the week. Any suggestions? Would this be a waste of time and $$$?? I'm located in Richmond, VA. Does anyone know what the pay is like maybe for a Patient Care Tech? Would the same shift diffs apply for an RN and a CNA? Thanks very much for any info. I'm trying my best to make this happen, I don't expect this to be an easy transition.....but it will be all worthwhile in the end! Keep your eye on the prize ladies and gents! ---Brian

I don't know you, but sounds like you really have a passion for this...can't go wrong with that. You're doing the right thing. I have to admit, you've got it made with school....getting that $$$ each month.

Yikes, sorry to hear that. Are you getting federal loans? Like Federal Stafford? Don't forget you have to pay these back!! That's the bad part.... If your credit is decent, you can find unsecured student loans through banks, etc. Mine is through AES (American Education Services)

Hey fellow students, Im finishing up my prereqs hoping to get into clinicals and Im pretty nervous about the current class Im taking, Anat & Phys. It is so much information and my professor seems to be moving at a rapid pace. Im afraid because it's tough for me to retain information. My greatest fear is getting into my nursing classes and forgetting most of what I've learned in this course. Any suggestions? Im assuming I have to know EVERYTHING taught in this class once I start my nursing courses. HELP!!! Brian

Woohoo....just got through my Bio and Anatomy lab...very glad that's over. This class is tough, but I think I might make it!!

Being around women? That's cool... Dont get me wrong, I love women...but they can be very emotional and tough to work with!!!

I think my reasons are the same as many others on here. I've always wanted to go into medicine, but don't have the patience for med school. Nursing has great pay, Im able to help others, many opportunities, flexibility. I've been stuck in corporate America for quite some time, never have liked it..but that's where all of my experience lies. Very unsatisfying...some people love it, but not for me. I'm starting my nursing program this Spring and pretty excited about it.

Hey guys, I've decided to leave the corporate world to pursue nursing. This has been a long time passion for me. My question is, since nursing school is full-time day, how do you all support yourselves?? Any suggestions? I don't even know where or how to begin to look for new employment while in school. I hear you shouldn't work more than part-time hours. Any suggestions are welcomed. Brian
