Nursing Students Male Students

Hi All!

I'm a crazy father of 2 ex-premed who just recently turned down Northwestern to go into a RN program.

I already have an Associate in Science, but I'll be getting another ADN and then go to a 4 yr school.

When I went to an info session about the RN program ill be trying to get into, out of like 70 ppl only 5 were guys.

So I want to know are there any men out there?

Hey guys,

Just got accepted to BSN program, starting Aug 21. can't wait. Hope i'm not the oldest one in my class at 35... haha. Keep in touch.

richard

I start in 2 weeks exactly! 38 here. I'm not old, just experienced! good luck all.

To previous poster...if you have the means RN is the best, but for tight funds then by all means get your LVN and then do a step up LVN to RN program. Psqrd

Hey guys. I just turned 30 August 14th and I am in my senior year of getting my BSN. Congradulations to all you guys that have made it so far and welcome to the newbies.

New guys I strongly encourage you to buy, borrow, whatever....an NCLEX book. THis book will be your bible through out school and a great study guide for your boards (not that far away). Study!!! Nursing school is very tough but manageble.

Don't let the ratio of men to women bother you...do what you do...

hellow to all of you big brothers.......

just came from Philippines nursing forum and just found this one...

im a second year BSN youngster.

hope that i can be a big part of this Forum, for us male nursing.

I sit the NCLEX in Dec 06. I've bought some NCLEX books and now I really wish I had bought them at the start of my program not at the end. I especially liked Kaplan's NCLEX-RN 2007 edition which has a wonderful description of the Nursing Process - better than any other I've read. Having this clear in my mind from the beginning would have been an asset. Also, the NCLEX book breaks down questions by category and this helps narrow down the kind of answer the question is looking for. If you're starting out in nursing school - get yourself this book and other NCLEX books now!

Also, check out the http://www.eriworld.com/ web site. This is worth subscibing to if your school does not already subscribe. Take a look. I like that it breaks down the questions by subject area so that (for example) you can take the maternity questions after your maternity rotation (the worst rotation for male nursing students IMHO).

Regards,

Nurse Mac :)
