HI. I JUST STARTED THE PROGRAM WITH THE COLLEGE NETWORK AND AM STUDYING THE 1ST MODULE. ANYONE WHO HAS ALREADY TAKEN THIS EXAM WITH TCN, CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME IF I CAN PASS THE EXAM WITH AN 'A' BY JUST READING THE MODULE PROVIDED. IF NOT, WHAT OTHER BOOKS WOULD YOU RECOMMEND.
THANK YOU.

TCN is still taking their $107 every month out of my account....good news is I have been paying for a while and only have about 14 payments left. I consider it a $6,000 lesson learned. I wish I would have known about this website 3 years ago too, but all I can do is hope others can learn from my mistake. I have recieved good advice in the few weeks I have been on here so I try to do what I can to help out. If you're an LPN, especially a recent grad, a majority of Excelsior's program is just a big review anyway

So a College Network rep was at my work today. I am graduating from my LPN in 8 weeks and am considering TCN, would you say you regret doing this?
There is an RN program at my school (private) and it costs $22K! SO I am trying to go somewhere cheaper and also be able to work full time (to start paying back my loan of my LPN which was more than I should have paid!)
Anyway, would you recommend the program?

TCN is not a school, it's a publishing company.. There is a great thread all about them on this forum somewhere. I will try and find it :) TCN is my $8,000 mistake!!
Here's one. I can't find the one I was thinking of though.. I hope this helps :)

This is why I love AN.com! I'm so sorry to hear about your TCN mistake, but thank you so much for helping me realize what TCN is actually all about! Best of Luck to you!
Well, without pulling out my bank statements here was the breakdown for me:
Excelsior emrollment $895
Exam fees : $250 X 8 (e exams)
Excelsior annual fee $495
Excelsior clinical fee approx $2,000
Total $5,390
now ADD TCN
I pay them $107/mo. for 60 months....roughly $6,000 dollars EXTRA
WITH COLLEGE NETWORK- $11,390
WITHOUT COLLEGE NETWORK $5,390
All TCN does is give you the textbooks and answer any questions you have. They do provide a service but not SIX THOUSAND dollars worth of a service.
You ask if I regret it...well, I dont want to say I regret it or I hate TCN or anything like that. They are nice people. If I had it to do over again though I would have just applied straight to Excelsior. I don't like paying anyone to do something I can do on my own and thats exactly what I did with TCN. They pitch a super sweet deal. It sounds good. The math just dont make sense, though. Thats my opinion. I'm sure some will disagree wity me and thats ok!
I totally agree with you nurse bear. I've been a LPN for 5 yrs and i was paying the same exact fee as you, only thing i think i only pay for 3 yrs not sure. At that time i was so eager to be a RN and didn't know any better. Wish i had gone straight through excelsior sine that time, i would be a RN already. But it's never too late. I never use the modules until now that i'm going through excelsior i use it as a supplement after i read my text book. There are so many third parties ripping us off cause we don't have the correct info.

I also signed up with tcn and realized I am paying more than I should but I can't go back. I wish I would have found this site first. Anyway, I read the module and used sg101 and it was good enough. I just graduated with my lpn in may so I still have all my books from that. I also bought sauders nclex rn and I am using that as a study aid too. I do the practice tests online on tcn website too. Good luck. I purchased the h/s, diff, chrono, repro sg101 combined on one cd from ebay for $30. It has all of them on it. I will be purchasing the sg 101 ls 1,2,3 pretty soon. That one also comes combined on one cd.
