Definitely send a thank you note.. if the interview went well, the rep will surely remember you for future positions. You'll make an even better impression by sending a thank you note. When I had interviewed with the HR rep, it was an "informational interview" as at the time there were no positions available. I was sure to send her a thank you note and was also sure to send a small thank you card for the HR secretary that was nice to me as I waited for the interview to begin. Can't say how much it helped, but the rep was always wonderfully nice to me as I continued to email her asking about openings... and now, I am employed! =) Any small act of kindness could never be a bad thing.
Send it. It is a rarity to receive a thank you note (made of real paper and written with an ink pen!) and it will definitely be a nice surprise to HR.
When I last interviewed I sent a small handwritten, thank you card to all the people I interviewed with as well as the HR representative that I met with.
When I signed my new employment paper work she (HR rep) had it proudly displayed on her desk...guessing she doesn't get many of these.....

I am a new grad (May 2010) and I have been job hunting all summer. I finally got an interview at a small hospital outside of town, for a L&D position. My interview with HR went great, and she sent me to interview with the L&D floor manager. Unfortunately, the manager took one look at my resume and told me she wouldnt hire anyone without a year of experience. I was heart broken! Needless to say, this is something that HR should have screened for in the applicant process. Now I want to send a thank you note to the HR rep for the interview, but I am not sure what to say? I still want to be considered for future positions, but I dont want to be doing fruitless interviews
Thoughts??
