Hopefully this means they are actually paying a competitive wage? Last I checked I was making $50,000+ a year more than the highest NP pay grade.

I just saw this news - and as an A/GNP student, I think this is excellent news for the profession, and it's about time!

Your article is about the Veteran's Administration (VA) passing independent practice. As for Virginia it was shot down again this year. We may be one of the last states.

There are only about 22 states that have independent practice.
I know but Virginia really has quite a good old boy network. The Board of Medicine successfully holds back independent practice annually. It's up every year and either shuffled to the next year or flat out rejected.
If you look at the map of states with independent practice most of them are up in the north northwest. The ones without are mostly in the southern part of the United States. So there's a pattern I'm just not sure the reason.

Would getting a big name supporter like, Hilary or Michele O, help your situation?

I make, depending on bonus accounting, 50-100k more than my VA preceptor and do nothing clerical and experience red tape only from insurance companies. I also come and go as I please. As much as I the VA population and staff, I'm too spoiled.
Also, if I recall you have to be licensed in a state so are you still constrained to the practice limitations of that state?
Why's it gotta be a liberal?
