Ok...let me preface this with "I'm really not trying to be rude"....
but 6 times?.....I'm just wondering what you felt might have been your difficulty? Is is test taking in general....or lack of preparation...or do you feel there was something lacking in your nursing program? I am just curious (not criticizing) as I have noticed many folks on here who have had to take NCLEX multiple times and I'm wondering what the prevailing issue is.

For me, it was a combination of all of the things you mentioned: during the first attempt, not really being able to get a handle on how to prepare for NCLEX & worked nightshift, which is NOT my gig. The second time, I had a study plan, but obsessed over trying to cover every single thing that I could. I obsessed to the point that I hardly got anything done. The third time, I studied, in addition to saying positive affirmations. My university did not offer any sort of NCLEX prep course. Now they offer the ERI course for students.
ok i have heard that if you fail the rn boards three times that you have to go back to school is this true or does it depend on the state?
I don't believe this is true. There are a few people here who failed the NCLEX 3x and they didn't mention going back to school. Anyone know? Maybe you could go back for remedial help, but I don't believe you need to repeat nursing school all over again.

This is not true of all states. In my state, if you fail 3 times, you have to go back through a review course at your college--but only go through the parts that are causing difficulty on NCLEX. For this reason, several people go to a neighboring state because you can test there an unlimited number of times, without having to take a review course.
