4th go around with nclex pn

Published

Where do i begin...... a few weeks ago i got my results back that once again i failed the nclex. 3 tries in a row i missed it by one subject. im really starting to hate those big white envelopes lol. i studied my butt off for plus 3 weeks. exam cram, saunders books, and nclex questions on the computer. the test itself doesnt seem that hard. it just feels like the questions come out of left feel. my question is this: everyday for about 2-3 hours i study. from doing practice test to reading chapters. what more can i do? is it just my luck? i was relaxed this time and even took my breaks. i went all the way to 205. and from what i herd thats a 50/50 chance. im the first one out of 15 friends to go to 205 and not pass. the first time i went to 112, second time 126, now this last time 205. this is honestly a confidence killer. i feel so low. no self worth. its kind of like you have people in your corner cheering for you just to let them down. any suggestions from anyone? any books i should buy? better methods? what? i feel like i actually did pretty good on it. but i guess not. back to the drawing board. if i study anymore i will not be able to sleep at night. after the first two times failing the anxiety wasnt there really. just the feeling of i might not pass yet again.

once again thanks for the advice. ill try anything from any angle along with what i was already doing. any little bit can help.

What areas are you weak on? focus on those. if it's peds read about peds and then do questions only on peds from different books/online. I think you should up your studying hours.

I took an NCLEX review course- it was offered by my school- but i am sure you can look them up in your area and pay. She was great! She summarized everything into 2 days! She gives you a practice predictability test which she says is pretty accurate. She also said to set a timer for 1 hourto study

(everyday) and as soon as the buzzer rings, close your book and stop studying! There is no more room in your head and it will be wasted! Just dont read into the questions, dont compare yourself to your friends who are passing, even though it is hard- itll happen when you are focused and prepared.

Oh yea and you said you studied for three weeks- don't set a time limit for yourself! Study until you feel ready then make the appointment. You might as well study until your ready and not give them all of your money( and sanity!)

I will get result today from CA..but i already know i got the big envelope again saying ..you didnt PASSED...

So how BIG is this envelope? Do you mean big as in a normal-sized letter envelope that is FAT, or big as in 8x10 diameter? I always wondered what part of that people were referring to...

Might be easier for you, but hard for other people. Not all of us are like you, people are different. And can you explain what you mean by "Too complicated"..? If its that easy we should have pass , all of us by now..right? So tell us how easy it is..and maybe we can learn something from you..

Yes, you should have passed. Over-thinking a problem and second guessing yourself are just two ways to make something "Too Complicated."

I think VM85 had a several great ideas, in particular: "She also said to set a timer for 1 hour to study

(everyday) and as soon as the buzzer rings, close your book and stop studying!"

not everytime you failed is you're gonna get a BIG envelope... cuz i failed twice, the second time i got the small one but i failed. 3rd time i took it and got a big envelope.. but i passed. i know, I hate those BIG envelope too.

nwayz, I know how u feel... when i took my 2nd test, i gave my all... i did everything... but still failed.

i really didnt know what to do... but i dont have a choice but to try it again.

3rd time, i used kaplan qbank... and it really helps me a lot..

and during the exam, its important to be calm and avoid to be nervous...

so you could focus and understand the questions and choices better.

dont give up!!! you can do it...

gooodluck!!! :redpinkhe:redpinkhe:redpinkhe:redpinkhe:redpinkhe

thanks again everyone for the good advice. glad to hear other people have trouble just like me. i didnt pick up the kaplan book. i picked up the nclex pn incredibly easy third edition. im going to use that with the questions on the computer. im recovering pretty good and almost ready to hit the books again....lol hopefully in a few months ill be back on here singing a new tune....
