4th go around with nclex pn

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Where do i begin...... a few weeks ago i got my results back that once again i failed the nclex. 3 tries in a row i missed it by one subject. im really starting to hate those big white envelopes lol. i studied my butt off for plus 3 weeks. exam cram, saunders books, and nclex questions on the computer. the test itself doesnt seem that hard. it just feels like the questions come out of left feel. my question is this: everyday for about 2-3 hours i study. from doing practice test to reading chapters. what more can i do? is it just my luck? i was relaxed this time and even took my breaks. i went all the way to 205. and from what i herd thats a 50/50 chance. im the first one out of 15 friends to go to 205 and not pass. the first time i went to 112, second time 126, now this last time 205. this is honestly a confidence killer. i feel so low. no self worth. its kind of like you have people in your corner cheering for you just to let them down. any suggestions from anyone? any books i should buy? better methods? what? i feel like i actually did pretty good on it. but i guess not. back to the drawing board. if i study anymore i will not be able to sleep at night. after the first two times failing the anxiety wasnt there really. just the feeling of i might not pass yet again.

The nclex was one of the easiest tests I ever passed(first time with 75 questions) I can only think that you are trying too hard. Since you passed nursing school, the test should only be a formality.

Take a break and then read "The Nclex made incredibly easy." Forget the other jargon, just use their advice.

alright thanks man...... they sell that at any book store right?

NCLEX is NOT an easy test. they make it harder and harder for you to pass this exam. Specially PN. I heard to that they will change the plan by next year. I failed twicce and this is my 3rd time to sit on this horrible exam. I really hope i pass this time cause i dont want to plan to take it again by next year. I have a good hold of the theory.. i just need to improved my test taking strategies and techniques in taking this exam...Books are all telling you the same thing..I will do a lot of practice test this time and maybe i will get use of the questions and SATA's..infection control and patient teaching..lots of them on my second try specially drugs...too much..I will get result today from CA..but i already know i got the big envelope again saying ..you didnt PASSED...so im over it and studying again...Good luck to all of us..:smokin:

Semarj911 I'm sorry to hear of your situation. The NCLEX is NOT easy as 2Brichielpn08 already posted and it is NOT easy as most people who have taken the test have posted on these forums. (woodenpeg, good for you if you thought it was easy, but consider Semarj911's feelings... I think maybe your testing skills are fine, but check the "bedside manner")

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck. Try dividing up your study time. Just keep trying....I'm rootin' for ya!!

thanks for the support everyone. but i swear. is it just my luck? im trying so hard just to fall short. i take each category that comes on that sheet that tells you what you are near above or below passing standard and just drill. 85-100 question per subject. with really understanding the rationale to why that is the right answer. and thats still not enough huh?

this will be my 4th time taking nclex-pn i just purchase saunders 4th edition i started reading the whole chapter and then doing the questions at the end of the chapter.i am a bit confused i dont know if i should just be doing questions and getting more confident with them or read the whole chapter? dont give up the good thing is that we can still take the nclex again and again

Do the quizzes at the end of the chapter and see how you do. If you score low then review the chapter if you score high then move on. Once you have finished the quizzes in the book then just concentrate on the CD with questions and read the rationale

thank you so much i will take your advice :) cross your fingers that i pass the nclex this time :typing

Good luck to all of you.

Everyone I have known face to face, who had difficulty with the nclex, had difficulties because they made it too complicated. Since you passed nursing school, the nclex should be a breeze.

You thought I was being arrogant or condescending. I was serious. Take a break then look into Saunders the NCLEX PN made incredibly easy. Here is a link http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=nclex+made+incredibly+easy&tag=googhydr-20&index=stripbooks&hvadid=1106404901&ref=pd_sl_73m0b43l4k_b It's the third book down.

Might be easier for you, but hard for other people. Not all of us are like you, people are different. And can you explain what you mean by "Too complicated"..? If its that easy we should have pass , all of us by now..right? So tell us how easy it is..and maybe we can learn something from you..
