Hi all,
I applied to the Spring 2020 TWU Dallas campus FNP program and I have a few questions for those already in the program and/or the ones that have applied for this same start date. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
1) First, I heard most people apply to multiple campuses to be sure but I am based in dallas and prefer not to travel. I am okay however, with applying for the Denton campus. Anyone here who wasn’t accepted to the Dallas campus even after perfectly meeting all the requirements??
2) How long does it take to hear back from them? I applied this month, will I hear back by next month?
3) when do the in-person classes start? 2nd semester or the second year? Say, if I want to only take 2 classes at a time, how many days a week do I need to go to class? How many hours is a typical class?
4) I have a easy low stress job where I can sometimes study(three 12 hour shifts a week), will I be able to keep doing it while taking 2 classes a semester throughout the program? I do have a toddler as well.
Thank you!!

hello nice to meet you! I also recently applied for Spring 2020, Dallas. Have you heard from them yet? If so, how long did it take them to release the announcement? I know I applied about 2 weeks ago so it might be too soon, but I am so nervous waiting...

Hi, so great to hear from you! thought i was the only one applying Lol
I submitted my application end of July, however I had missing documents and I took my sweet time with those and just finalized everything end of auguest(last week). And I decided to apply to Denton(Online) campus as well. On my webadvisor the Dallas application says " Awaiting Department Review" and the Denton one says "Ready for Review".
One of the advisers told me the Denton campus FNP is mainly online and is larger program that accepts a lot more students than the Dallas one. That is why i ended up applying for it as well. I did have to pay the application fee again :-(,
Did you hear back yet?
Please let me know.

Good to hear from you! My status for Dallas campus still says "awaiting Department review" since the beginning of August so I decided to apply for Denton as well and my status for Denton campus recently changed to "accepted" last week! I was so excited to finally see some change on my status but I am wondering if I am officially accepted since I have not received any email typically saying "congratulations on your acceptance" or some sort.
So is fnp program in Dallas campus not mostly online like Denton campus? I don't know which locations to choose if I am officially accepted in both locations, but I was reading through some previous posts on this website about this program and someone mentioned Denton campus actually finds clinicals for students... (does Dallas campus not?)I think my only concern is the clinical placement.... A lot of people I know have had some hard time finding clinicals and ended up not graduating on time... Anyway, fingers crossed! I hope both of us would get in! Keep me posted!
Yay!! My status for Denton changed to "accepted' as well last week! I read in the other posts that it usually means yes we are accepted into the program and the e-mail or letter comes later, we can always call them too to verify. Yes I heard the same thing about Denton too, they help find preceptors as oppose to Dallas which we have to find ourselves. Just to be safe, I am gonna start looking for preceptors now. I have a good relationship with my daughter's pediatricians, guess I will start there and ask them to hook me up:-).
And as far as the program format, I was told most of the 1st year classes are online but later on we will have to go to the campus maybe twice a week or something for the Dallas Campus and I want to keep working and really dont like the idea of working 3 days(12 hr shifts) and then going to school 2 days!
I only applied to Denton because I was told we would ONLY go to the campus for special events not routinely as part of courses. I hope that is what you heard too.
Will you come to the Graduate Fair next Tuesday 17th? I registered to go just to check out the campus and the event. Perhaps that will give me a better picture of both programs so I can choose wisely. I did hear Dallas campus takes forever to accept and review applications so we maybe waiting awhile.
I will send you a private email so we can exchange info coz I barely get on this website.
I just called the nursing department and found out that Denton is changing the FNP program to 100% online, not the hybrid of face-to-face/online, starting this year and that would actually increase the tuition by ~$10,000, which I did not expect at all!!! This online program has a set tuition rate of $638 per credit hour so if you are a resident or not, everyone would pay that same rate. What's the point of going to a state school then? I am so taken aback right now because this is totally unexpected for me and now I have to prepare some more funds for it.. Not so happy with this change....

I know! It was such a shock to me too. The advisor called me yesterday. The only reason I chose TWU was because the tuition was half the price of UTA and now they are the same! Ughhh! This sucks big time. I don’t like that I haven’t heard back from Dallas campus yet. Honestly, if the Dallas campus is still $350/ credit hour I am gonna have to tough it out and go with them instead of Denton.

I applied to TWU Denton Spring 2020. I was accepted unconditionally! If anyone knows anything about this program, please help me with some general insight on how to be successful. Thank you
Hi nice to meet you. Are you coming to grad school fair this Tuesday?
Hi, there! No, I won’t be attending the graduate fair. I’m in Lufkin, TX.
