Texas Wesleyan CRNA 2020

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Hello all,

I wanted to make a thread for nurse anesthesia students looking to apply to Texas Wesleyan specifically as the interviews will be coming up soon. ?

Anyone else interviewing Oct 28-30th?

Specializes in ICU.

I just emailed her as well. Poor thing she is probably swamped with email right now! Wow such a long wait, but worth while! Is there a ranking system on the waitlist?

Still nothing here. Mine still says completed and received?

I got an email back about the waitlist. Same, on the list until July 2020 to see if someone falls off from a clinical spot. There is not a ranking to where you are on the list. There are a lot of variables that go into place when selected off the waitlist.

Anyone get a Texas site acceptance?

Sorry to barge in, good luck to everyone who is interviewing and congratulations to everyone who’s been accepted! I had my interview and was accepted back in the end of August to start this August 2020. Honestly just looking for people to get to know for any questions we might have for eachother along the way before school starts.

I just accepted a spot in Wichita, KS. Anyone else going to KS?

Hi, how are you?

I was wondering how was the process for you? I am trying to apply next year.

Hey Y'all,

I know someone going to TW CRNA program in the Fall semester. We were looking over their financial aid award and we were wondering what the total cost of attendance should be. They were awarded 56k total for the Fall and Spring semester. That seems a little light on the cost of living side of things, especially for Dallas/ft Worth area. I just wanted to be sure this was correct before we looked for more desperate options.

Thanks!

Yeah that’s right

I will have a zoom video interview in October and am wondering how exactly I need to prepare. I know people keep saying study CCRN material but what exactly do I need to focus on and how indepth are their questions? Also, do they still ask you to interpret ABGs or how vent settings should be changed based upon an ABG? I've heard people say they were asked stuff like that in the past. I had a TCU interview last week (got my rejection letter yesterday ?) which had no clinical questions at all and I know this one will be harder so I want to be extra prepared so I have a good chance of getting in. TCU and TX Wesleyan are my top 2 choices of where I wanted to attend school.

I'm taking my CCRN tomorrow and I had a 305 on my GRE, I also have a bachelors and master's In biology, taught college intro to bio and A&P 1 lecture and lab for 2 years then got my BSN after that while teaching AP labs during nursing school and I currently have 1 yr 3 months ICU experience. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I can't get into nitty-gritty detail like I want because they have you sign a NDA, but I'll tell you how I prepped for my CRNA schools interviews (including TexWes) last cycle. I was accepted.
-Know the type of patients you get (9/10 any committee will ask you this Q). Don't bring up any patient you are not willing to expand on. I love sepsis so I had studied the pathophys, treatments, pressors (all the way down to the cellular level--know this for your commonly used pressors, sedation, etc.), hemodynamics, labs...

-I watched all of the Ninja Nerd cardio/pulm Youtube videos and I am VERY glad I did. It helped a lot. I also watched pharm Youtube videos and bought a used pharm book to really get a better understanding of the drugs.

-After hearing about other people's experience at CRNA program interviews, I expected them to pressure/intimidate me. I told myself it is like a game, don't fall for the tricks ? . Helps make it less scary LOL Take a deep breath, don't rush yourself, be honest if you don't know the answer. I was grilled, but fairly prepared. When I didn't know something, I was honest and expressed that I would love to learn more about it. They do not expect you to know everything.

-Trust your gut. Breathe. Remember they are trying to gauge how you critically think and carry yourself. Remember you are trying to see if they are a good fit for you too!!

Good luck!!

P.S. I recommend asking TCU what would have made the different for an acceptance for some constructive criticism. ? This is common to do. Learn what you can from that experience, and then move on! This is a new opportunity and it will be very different from TCU. Don't bring the baggage ❤️ Both schools liked what they saw on paper. You just have to seal the deal!!
