Thank you for being a part of the allnurses community.
nursinggorly said:Definitely! I don't say all of that to scare people, it is definitely doable to succeed, but I really didn't know what I was getting myself into and this program takes a lot of diligence, time, and hard work. And everyone is different, so what works for some, will not work for others. BUT nursing is so fun and worth it. If you think you want to be a nurse, go for it, whatever schooling you can get your hands on.
Yes, ATI & the Pearson. Mainly ATI, and then Pearson is used for additional info if ATI does not cover it. I would suggest watching Level Up RN videos if you're wanting to get a head start. She pulls straight from ATI so you know that it will pretty much align coursework wise. Start with a Fundamentals and Pharmacology playlist since these are taken in the Spring. For Pharm, start with topics she covers like safe administration, routes of administration, NSAIDs, opioids, heart meds (ACE, beta blockers, digoxin, diuretics), anticoagulants, insulin, respiratory meds, GI..honestly she has so many great resources. Also NurseInTheMaking has some playlists - I think I have watched all of her Pharm playlist!
First of all thank you for all the useful information & sharing your experience. I followed everyone you listed & saved those videos specifically! It's appreciated 🤗
I also was wondering if you can't switch from night shift then can you request it? I work night shifts already so it would fit my schedule better with my kids but I was wondering if it was even an option to say hey could I have a night shift clinical. Also where are some of these clinical sites? Just trying to gauge what my commute time may possibly be & what's a clinical shift like? Is there any paperwork due after each shift? are sims & exams at the Forest Park location? Sorry for so many questions in advance LOL 😂 hopefully you see this

Does anyone know if we can accept and decline later if we're still waiting to hear back from other schools? I'm worried I won't hear back from the other schools until October
My cousin was just accepted to the Amarillo campus. She literally said the same thing as you. She didn't put any other campus on purpose. And was given Amarillo which she has no idea about the area....

Does anyone know where we could take the CNA course? Is there an online program? Also- has anyone received emails regarding the next steps after accepting and submitting placement fee payment?
Some are online but they still require you to come in for check-offs. Are you located in Dallas?

thanks for responding! I will be in the Austin campus, I also did the course and have a CNA certification back in high school (like 10 years ago) so not sure if I will have to redo everything again

Congratulations! 🎉
Try emailing them before paying for another CNA course. They may be able to accept your CNA certification from 10 years ago. It's worth asking.
