Is anyone applying to the Texas Tech 2nd degree BSN program for 2016? I am and thought I would start a thread on here to get some conversation going! I'm so excited about applying but am nervous about getting in!
@snwbal, I don't know about the numbers but I do know that they look at each applicant as an individual. I think they would consider someone that has experience in health care, is sure of wanting to become a nurse, and is ready for an accelerated program... over someone who could only present the highest GPA and TEAS scores.
So I'm not sure how many of you have received a f/u email regarding the interviews but I found-out today the interviews are web-based. I don't know about everyone else but talk about a huge relief!
Does anyone know from past interviews or talking to past applicants what Texas Tech's interview looks like (e.g. questions asked)?
@snwbal41786 My questions last year were very simple and easy. They first asked me why I want to be a nurse? What got me interested in nursing? They asked what kind of support I have to get me through the program and how I would I manage my time. They also asked me what specialty I saw myself working in. Where do I see myself in 5-10 years and what hospitals do I live near. I think that was it. At some points the conversation kind of just flowed and at other times it was a straight question they had. They were all veryy nice. I almost found myself being too friendly rather than professional.
I didn't get accepted last year. I did get interviewed though. I have applied again for this year. I assume they'll ask me mostly the same questions as last year. They will probably want to know what I have done to improve for this year. They encourage people to keep reapplying. I applied for Austin last year and this year I applied for everywhere except for Amarillo and Odessa.

Hi everyone!
New to the thread. I applied for the Austin/Hill Country area cohort. I received an email about an interview yesterday and my interview date is Aug 11th. Is anyone who's applying from out-of-state right now? I'm currently in Oregon but I grew-up in the Hill Country and I still have family there. I'm honestly no sure if I'm going to attend the interview or not d/t the move, which is good for all of you hopefuls! Is anyone else somewhat annoyed the interviews aren't on a Monday and Friday? It seems like that would be easier for traveling purposes.
Has anyone heard what some of the specifics they're looking for regarding applicants? I know generally speaking GPA, TEAS scores and CNA experience. Does everyone have a lot of CNA experience thus far? I just completed the training and will be testing this weekend for certification. I currently work as a social worker and have hospice and nursing facility experience with that.
Looking forward to hearing from anyone!
