I’m not sure if it’s too early to start this thread, but anyone on here planning on applying to Texas Tech’s Second Degree program in May?

My class was really small, so we had a lot of time practicing skills! Highly recommend if you’re in DFW. I drove about 45 min because it seemed to be the best in the area.
That’s the one I was looking into! I’m in the DFW area as well. Did you receive your CNA certificate without taking an exam?

Nice, I’d definitely go with them! The instructors are so nice, and it’s chill having days off for online modules. I’m also doing the phlebotomy program because it was a good deal haha. So I finish tomorrow, but I won’t be “officially” certified until state testing centers are approved. They’re in the process of that now (should be soon, Legacy is in legal steps w/ the state, about to sign contracts). Testing has actually been suspended since March, so Gov Abbott made it so you can work as a CNA for a probationary time period without taking the state test. Same w/ RNs and the NCLEX. For now, most employers just want to see a certificate that you completed the course! And that’s what TTUHSC is asking for too.

Of course! I’m so ready for those admission decisions. Hoping we are all accepted! Did anyone figure out how many people were interviewed? I’m wondering if the applicant pool was significantly reduced before interviews.

One of the people told me in the waiting room that we should be proud of ourselves because there were a lot of students who didn’t get an interview and would love to be in our position.

Thanks for the info. I’m glad many of us were given the opportunity to interview, and I hope those that didn’t get an interview don’t get discouraged in their career path. Hopefully we have good news in a few weeks! Good luck to everyone!
I think they were trying to avoid us getting discouraged by not telling us how many applicants they had, but that has made us even more nervous. I'm sure they couldn't interview every candidate that met the minimum criteria, so there's some magic they have that helps them determine who to interview I'm sure. Well I am glad that everyone has a positive outlook. We're all one day closer to finding out if we made it ?.

Hi! I’m in the Austin area and plan to take the CNA course with Central Texas Nurse Network. They have rolling registration for weekday (3 weeks) and weekend (5 weeks) classes. Here’s the website if you’d like to check it out.

There is a rubric that they use to determine who gets an interview. So those who meet the minimum requirements plus the highest scoring on the rubric gets an interview from my understanding. I've learned a lot by reading the past forums and I watched all of the webinars live when we had them earlier this year
