Texas Tech-Accelerated BSN Spring 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

I haven't seen a thread for those of us applying May 1st to the January 2020 cohort. I'm wondering how heavily they weigh the TEAS. Also, I have heard as long as you meet all criteria they typically give you an interview. Has anyone else heard this? I really like how they take a holistic approach to grant admissions. I'm wanting to apply to UTA but I feel like the main way you get extra points is by attending school there which I did not do! We'll see!

Anyone know what the bootcamp schedule will look like in January? I know we'll get some information soon, but I'm just eager and want to prepare for the year/see if I can fit in *any* work time.

SA Cohort 2019 Schedule given to me by Prof Goodman:

By looking up the schedule 2019, it seems like we have every weekend off, right? Any suggestion?

You’re correct that you’ll never have courses on the weekends but it is very likely you’ll be in clinical on some weekends depending on your nurse preceptor’s schedule!

Some have have asked about working - it definitely is doable but makes your life more stressful. If you have a flexible job then it’s possible. But your week-to-week schedule is always different with exams, on site simulation, your preceptor’s schedule not being the same, etc!

Hope this helps. Congrats to everyone on your admission! ?

Hey y'all! This is the first time I have posted on here but I got into the Austin Cohort!! Congrats to everyone who has been accepted!! I can't wait to get to know everyone ?

P.S. I sent a request to be on the Austin Cohort FB group ?

Hey!

Has anyone asked Cindy about the official acceptance stats? I know before the estimate was 500 applicants, 160 interviewed. I wanted to ask what the final numbers were and how many were accepted, but didn’t want to bug Cindy if she’d already answered the question.

I haven't but I would love to know.

It would be even better if we got a breakdown per location.

Okay, cool! I'm hoping I can work ~15ish hours a week, I guess we'll see. Anyone else thinking about working a little while in school?

I am trying to work too about the same...I think we can make it happen!

I was talking to one of the nurses on my floor who graduated from the program 4 years ago... she said don't work if at all possible... she had to, but she could read something and retain it... she said if you do work that she suggests working as little as possible for the spring semester as we are adjusting to everything plus we take pharm... other advice she shared was that we are required to do one 12-hr clinical per week at a minimum, but that's not enough... she ended up doubling up every other week...
