Texas Tech-Accelerated BSN Spring 2020

Published

I haven't seen a thread for those of us applying May 1st to the January 2020 cohort. I'm wondering how heavily they weigh the TEAS. Also, I have heard as long as you meet all criteria they typically give you an interview. Has anyone else heard this? I really like how they take a holistic approach to grant admissions. I'm wanting to apply to UTA but I feel like the main way you get extra points is by attending school there which I did not do! We'll see!

Congratulations again to every one! I wanted to let the ones who didn't get in that UT Tyler has started their accelerated program again and have three entry dates per year. The next application is due February 1st. They also have 3 campuses which can increase your chances of getting in. Lastly, they do a point system unlike Texas Tech and only look at your prerequisite courses. Hopes this helps someone. I got into WGU and will start in December. They also have cohorts every month even though the program is longer.

Collin college starts a program next week i think!! Congrats! I am in the Dallas program too and we do have a Facebook! The link was posted above and I don't have access to it right now! ? but maybe someone else can re-share it?!

I submitted to join now that I’m in!

For those of yall that didn't get CNA certification and went the PCA/PCT/other route for the CNA certification requirement, how did you go about submitting your proof of experience? Was it just a checklist of skills your supervisor signed off on?

Thanks! Now I need to buy a laptop and do a cna program real quick lol

Costco has an HP 2in2 notebook that can be used as a tablet for I think$799. Also i loved the surface when I used it previously for school if you are one of those that wants to use a tablet but also have windows for school work and basically the desktop capabilities that's another great option. I think they do student discounts if you go to an actual microsoft store.

You'll need to get the checklist from your nurse educator for the new hire skills and sign offs then have that educator and your floor supervisor sign off saying you have completed said skills.

Well....biggest surprise of my life... I just found out I am pregnant... I have a 5-year-old and then a 11-month-old... so I will probably have to drop out of this program. Anyone know of anyone that had a baby in this program?

I have a friend who is in the program now who went through it pregnant and had her baby so it's possible!

Hey guys!

Im currently trying to figure out how I’m going to pay for this program ? I’m going to fill out a FAFSA today and probably look into private loans (I don’t think loans from FAFSA will be enough). Does anyone have any recommendations for private lenders or have any experience with them?

I use Wells Fargo private loans since my options were used up with first degree

Arw you sure you want to drop the program? Honestly it might be easier to complete pregnant than with a newborn. Just a thought.

Well I would have it early June.... both my parents still work and I have two small children already. It’s hard for me to see how I can make it work.
