Nothing so far.

I really need a heads up on $$$$$ for 4th semester. Thanks! Hopefully, this information is for my NEXT and LAST semester! :uhoh21:

I hope everybody is happy with the first lecture grades. :balloons:

What's up with our pins? Until today I thought that we all (THR, ECC, NLC) would have the same pin design. Somebody told me today that we could buy our own pins. :clown:

I think 3rd semester is not going to be my favorite as far as lecture goes! The grades I heard were NOT good! I pray I make it through!!!!

I'm loving clinical though. I was so scared beforehand, but with a little bit of freedom, it makes it easier to do what you need without having to wait for an instructor to get to your floor. It also forces you to really make sure your time management is on cue!

I only had 2 patients though. LOL! I hope Texas gets a 5 patient rule. I don't think there is any way one person can give 6 or more patients the time they need. Really, it really shouldn't be more than a 1:4 ratio.

Are you on the med-surg or oncology floor? How is the evening shift? We start our real clinicals next week from 1500 to 2300.

About 3rd semester: it really helped me reading two different books. I had Iggy and Lewis. I think Iggy is easier to understand but Lewis has more details. There were parts that I had to read 3 times until I fully understood. I would also watch some of the older lecture videos. And, as always, do as many practice questions as you can. Do you have enough practice questions? Let me know if you need questions.

It's a good thing that we have no more skills lab and check offs. ;)

we survived our first test too, I don't know how everyone did in the class, I'm happy with my grade. It is definitely different than sec. semester. I am glad I did more reading and preparing on my own, than just from the lecture slides/guide. I did not do that much reading from the text book last semester, but it looks like that's what we need to do more now. Also, them taking away the Pharm test is adding a lot more pressure ....,

having to know all those meds for the test :uhoh3:

I also do many questions, of course, can never do enough of those .

Katie , where are your clinicals this semester?

I am so happy, that we only have to do a couple of careplans and than we can focus only on clinicals and 3 to 4 patients,.

The evening clinical time is great! I love not having to get up at 3:30 AM to leave by 4:30! I have to get busy finishing up my careplan. I will be so glad to not have to do these each week. You know me though, I tense up knowing I'm being 'graded'. I guess I didn't do so bad though, I am doing SubQ and PO alone already. I'm not looking forward to the assessment or IVPB 'check-offs'. (If that's what you want to call them. ...All the paperwork makes them sound terrible!) ha

I read all the chapters, did the study guide, listened to all the videos, took notes from all....studied, answered all kinds of questions, and was doing VERY well on those!

Right now I'm not sure what I can do differently. People who said they didn't study hardly at all made around the same grade or better than I did. I didn't do too badly, but still not happy.

Katie , where are your clinicals this semester?

Doctors Hospital at White Rock Lake. We start clinicals next week. They will let us observe in ICU, ER, OR and even L&D. I think it will be fun going back to L&D and nursery again. :balloons:

Question: Does anyone know what we supposed to do with the second set of fingerprint cards? Thanks.

Specializes in Operating Room.

Katie....sorry, forgot to answer. I'm on the cardio floor right now. It's a great floor...all the nurses are great with helping/explaining stuff, and I'm definitely seeing a bunch of cardio & pulmonary issues.

We're starting IVPB now. Our trach seminar is Monday.

By the way, the questions you were offering...are those questions that you made up? I'd love extra questions!!!! I hope one of these days these questions pay off because I do well on the questions, so-so on the exams. ha

Gotta go to clinical.

I like the evening shift, too. The only problem is that when I get home I am hungry and I really shouldn't eat at 2300. :uhoh21:

By the way, who is your 3rd semester lecture instructor? Is it Ms. S.?
