Hi everyone!

I am interested in applying to the ABSN program for fall 2023 start date. For current students, what are y'all's thoughts thus far about the program?

Yes, I definitely recommend applying the faculty is very supportive and my experience has been great so far. There have been a few bumps on the road but I would definitely recommend. Nursing school is still new to me so I can't really say much just that it's rigorous but doable, just make sure you make the commitment to pull through!

How have the classes been thus far? What is the schedule like per week and what is the student to teacher ratio?

Hello,

I am on the fence for this program and Baylor's Distance ABSN. Can anyone who went to this program please give some details on the program about what you liked and what you did not like? Baylor was my first choice, however, when I found it is all online and I won't exactly have a cohort to study in person with, it made me very hesitant. From my research, TLU has just as good of a program, so I am torn!

I'm in the same situation and my first choice program is hybrid with in person for clinicals, labs, exams and quizzes. I recently applied to tlu and am still waiting on a decision. I would say tlu is good because it's in person and about 30 students get in so you'd be able to study with your peers and classmates. The downside to me is that it's 16 months as opposed to the 12 months. I haven't heard too much about their program, but from what I've seen so far it seems like a good program. I would say to attend their in person session on July 13th because you'd get to tour the campus and ask the faculty, current students, and more questions.

Hi I'm so sorry for the late response. 1st semester was 4 classes Mon-Thur which was pretty good. There are a few new professors but Ik that you'll be in good hands. The faculty really does care and as long as you put in effort you should be fine. It gets disorganized here and there but my experience has been really good. The ratio depends on your cohort. Mine was 1:22 which I didn't find troubling. Hope this helps!

I just got accepted into the program yesterday! I'm really excited although I'm waiting to hear back from another program. It's definitely helping make me make my decision. I was wondering how do I find other students starting out in my same cohort? Plus are there clinicals during the 1st semester and if so are they primarily in one location or spread out? Also how often are exams?

Hi there!

How is your decision process going? I currently eliminated one program and now, still between these two programs. My pros and cons is the same as you listed. It is comforting to know that I am not the only one having a hard time making this decision!

Congratulations on getting accepted. Sadly I didn't meet the other students until after orientation where they make us a group me. I'm not sure if they are still doing that. 1st semester clinicals depend on where they place you, the options are spread out houston. Exams I would say are every month you might get 2 in a month it just depends on the schedule they set. I would recommend brushing up on dosage calculations that entrance exam will make or break you. Take it very seriously! It's doable but you just have to be committed. They give you all the tools you need to be successful. Also nursing exams are different from anything I've ever seen, all the answers are correct but you have to pick the most correct answer.

I'm feeling like the decision is getting harder because I just got accepted into tlu's program yesterday. I'm still waiting to hear back from Ust. I feel like I want to make the right decision for me, but I'm torn because they are both good schools. My goal is to choose the right school that will make me feel supported and also help me become a good nurse.
