Have you submitted an application to Texas BON?

not yet ..i don't know which application i have to submit

AI'm not an international student but I had to fill out an application to the Texas BON, get my school to send in an affidavit of graduation, get my fingerprints & pay for a background check. I also has to take the nursing jurisprudence exam for Texas.

I am also an international nurse from INDIA. I applied for NCLEX-RN through Texas board of nursing in August. I got an approval from the board in october. Initially you send an application to Texas Board of Nursing. If you are done with CES report, start with application process. Better call BON and speak to them. If you have any questions, post here. No worries. It will take little longer time for the process, but easily you get an approval.

Good Luck

From which country you are?

There's a very good step-by-step guide for internationals on going thru the TX BON process, search for it in these threads, it's all there from start to finish and the related costs and approximate times.

Thank u all...

Do i need to take appointment for jurisprudence exam ? how and where can i give that exam? what kind of questions they asked ? can someone tell me in details about jurisprudence exam..

Looking at the Texas website it is an online exam. Suggest you read the Texas BON website as there is a online course you can take that will help prepare you for the exam

hi …one more questions i like to ask , i have done with my fingerprint for criminal background check .do i need to fill out

the application form for texas board of nursing at the same time or i can do it later ?

I do not have SSN. That is the reason,i did not go with electronic finger printing. I sent finger printing card along with application. Generally,It takes 15 business days for criminal back ground results. In my case,it took 30 days(totally). As for my advice, please go ahead with the applicaton process. Because Texas board takes lil long time..........................

Good luck.......:)

While TX allows the NCLEX to be taken without having a SS#, but will they release the license without having a valid SS# that is work authorized? What does the TX BON mentioned about that?

In any case, if it is allowed to take possession of the license, one will always need either that working approved SS# or a working visa of some sort to work legally in a hospital or any legitimate US employer, whether it's a nursing home, any hospital or a McDonald's.
