89.90! 1 tenth from an A :(

Published

I just added up my points in fundamentals of nursing and I have a 89.9 . There is no rounding and I am 2 total points (one test question on any of the 5 tests) from an A. I know I should be grateful and that some of you have a 94-100A grading scale, however I still feel like I was so close. If it was a 88 or 89.4 I would accept my B but come one! one tenth?!?! Anyone else have this happen?

I could try and argue 2 points but I doubt its a winning battle. Sorry for the rant I'm just dissapointed in coming so close.

By the way I am a first semester student in a ADN program.(well now technically second semester)

Thanks for the reply's everyone. Peytons mom, jbudd, and mi vida, you are absolutely correct I just want to vent. I know that there is a ton more effort that could have been put into studying for the final. However, I felt burnt out and did not study like I should which cost me the one question which made the letter grade difference. My own fault! Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Oh and by the way, its a he. :)

Hi!

Yes, I just finished up my first semester in my ADN program. Of course I make a big deal out of grades like that, too! I wish they were to be rounded up! :( I feel your pain alright. Same stuff happens to me in our grading system we got in our program. I got a B in Fundamentals. A straight out B. I was just happy I made it through. You got very close to an A! Be proud of yourself! You did wonderful! :) Even though you didn't get the grade you surely deserve, you did awesome anyway. Congrats! Onto the second semester for us! Good luck!

I'm so thankful I've never been anywhere that a 90 wasn't an A of some sort- either an A- or a full A- and an 80 was a B etc.

It's really impossible to compare GPAs from different schools when the grading standards are all so variable. What's the point of even pretending that GPAs mean anything outside of a particular school?

To the OP- that is frustrating. It's ironic that the closer you are, the more frustrating it is. If you'd gotten a solid B you probably wouldn't even be thinking about an A. Shake it off chica, you can always do better next quarter. I have one grade that made me angry with myself and it's just jarred me out of any complacent feelings I had and I'm going to bring it next quarter. You do the same :)

And know that all those "A"s in your future will be all yours!solidly!

I worked really hard this semester (my first) and called my mother to tell her the fantastic news that I got an A-. She said "oh, you're usually an A student." Really, Mom? lol Congrats anyway Super, we know how hard we worked.

Wow I was exactly 2 points away from an A too! I was a bit tired then (probably did 4 tests in 3 days) so I didn't have time to fret too much. It sucks for sure but what can you do? I just tell myself I gotta study harder. I read that someone on here actually begged the professor for extra points. I would never dream of doing that, first I don't have the guts to, and second, I didn't earn it, therefore I got what I got. I actually got a B+ so better than regular 'B' I guess. I have a love/hate relationship with the +/- system.

In my school this would be an A-. But you need a 94.5 or above for an A.

In my ADN program you are 3 and one tenths away from an A.

Sorry, guy, that does suck. And to rub it in, you did better than me (89.62) and I DID get an A. Yay for rounding! Funny how all the programs are different. Wonder why?

Sorry that sucks. Argueing for two points wont help because in the end we all get the grade we earned.
