Temporary RN license in NY

Who knows- can I get temporary license in NY, I have California RN license, and my RN NY license is pending, I'll get it about 2-3 months. I already have RN position, but I can't start my work without license. My employer can sign on the nurse form-5 ( from NY board of nursing).Then can I get the temporary license?

I have L-2 visa , SSN and I have employment authorization,

my education already approved in NY board of nursing ( CVS process from CGFNS is finished ). I am waiting for form-3 from CA to NY.

If you're not a PR, I do not believe you are eligible for the temporary or interim permit.

It looks like New York does not offer a temporary license number. Under your Visa L2 your L1 visa holder has a job and should be supporting you so in reality I don't like stating you need the money to live is valid. Since the L2 income should be enough to support your family.

First of all do you have a CA license ? The reason I ask if you took the NCLEX and didn't have a SSN the state did not offer you a license. You needed to provide a SSN to get a license.

Back to your issue, you need to contact someone to fix their mistake.If you lived in California I would advise you to contact your California legislator to assist you in this issue.

I would also send a letter to the President, Board Ann Boynton via registered mail, return receipt requested, I would also send a copy to the Governor . They are lacking an executive director, who would be the one to resolve these issues. Also since you don't live in the state you are low priority ( sorry).

In the letter I would cite the situation, leave a phone number that you can be contacted. Ask the you are requesting a response with in 10 days. I would also request a refund for the money you sent twice.

Last if you get no response, you need to hire a lawyer.

How do you know what's going on in my personal life and in financial status ????

My husband has L-1 visa. It's mean-he got confirmation to open the business in USA.

It is important to note - we are live in USA only 3 months.

I think it will take time to start all kind of business and succeed in it.

If I don't need a job immediately, I would not ask for help in my situation....

Medsurg, L-2 is a valid visa allowing spouses to work as long as the L-1 is valid and the L-2 has applied for EAD. It is wrong to presume that L-1 should be able to support. Many couples these days require both to work and survive/live

My understanding ( which in not legal advice just laymen's knowledge) is that L- 1 visa is limited to multi national companies such as Coca Cola, Toyota, etc, to bring high level employees to assist in managing the company which I interpret to be that your spouse has an income stream coming in.

That being said, I would ask why didn't you apply to the state you were planning to move? It is always easier to deal with the state you live in. So you made an error applying to CA and moving to NYC.

I have made several suggestions in my above post, my point is if you are pleading your case based on financial need, other people like myself will question why your spouse is not making a living wage ( L1 Visa is associated with a multi national company) this may not invoke the sympathy aspect of your case (pleading you need the money to live on).

Best of Luck and I would not apply for any positions until you have an actual license in hand, that is the advice I give new nurses in the USA.

It's official according to the rules, the explanation is very beautiful and clear, but as everyone knows is not always all done by what is written, not always things work well and beautifully in life as we want.

As I said, my husband got only the permission to open the company in USA. It is different from getting managerial or executive position. If you get some position- you are don't worry- you already have a job.

Applying to CA was my mistake, but then I didn't know it.I am RN from Israel, The company in Israel that prepared nurses for NCLEX, suggested to do it, because it was the short way to get permission for examination. I waited for this permission only 3 months, from NY board you can get it after 8-10 months.

I even didn't know that CA license is not acceptable in NY !!!

I wanted to be ready for my new life in USA.I passed NCLEX and I started CVS process from CGFNS 7 months before we arrived to USA. Now I understand how this way is "short and faster"

The principle is a mistake, that CA done.There is no one to talk on the phone in Ca board. I feel that the operators are like robots , they don't want to listen to you , I am even not talking about understanding.

I want to use the Customer Service Evaluation Form too, I'll do it tomorrow.

Best of luck, if you have a relative or good friend in CA, they can call their local rep, to put heat on the board of nursing from that angle..

It is very hard to deal with some aspects of government and I hate it. But in my opinion CA made a mistake and need to fit the issue.
