Hello, I just wanted to start a thread for those of us applying for the LVN or RN programs at Temple College for 2015. We can share information, discuss any concerns, talk about the HESI exam, getting cleared through the Board of Nursing, or the just nursing program in general! Those of you that are already in the program are more than welcome to chime in.
PLEASE NOTE: I am in no way taking responsibility for any wrong information given, nor will I moderate this thread. I just want to meet new friends and support one another through the process of applying and getting our acceptance letters!
I took the HESI today. I got 96.67 composite score. 100 in math, 96 in vocabulary and 94 in reading comprehension. The study guide helps the most with math. Study and memorize the conversion chart. There was also a random question involving tablespoons. I just so happened to read 1 Tb= 1/2 Oz the other day while cooking, otherwise I wouldn't have known the answer. Tb equivalence aren't on the study guide chart. But everything that is on it is on the test. I didn't really study for reading comprehension. Make sure you know the difference between an implication and inference and all of those other devices used to check your understanding. A majority of the vocabulary words on the test were in the study guide but some you have to just either know or infer based on the context. There are a handful of "gimme" questions, too, where you just have to select the right form of a word for a sentence based on context, like assist, assistance, assisting, assistants.
Overall, it was about what I expected. Not bad. Happy with my score :)
And, for the record, I was #77 on the applicant list for the LVN program. Thursday is the last day to apply, but today was the last day to take the HESI. For those who have applied January 15th is the last day to submit your transcripts, fyi!
