Hey Everyone, I created this thread for anybody looking to apply for the 2016 LVN or ADN program at Temple College! Anyone and Everyone is welcome to come and discuss your application processes, Acceptance into the programs, your nursing history with Temple College, etc.. I look forward to speaking and hopefully meeting my new fellow classmates through this thread!
Thanks!!!
DDr87,
I think my GPA is 3.69 with those classes.. Im not sure I calculated right though... I know at one point I calculated a 3.75 but thats not what I got this time lol.. I wonder if we can call and ask what it calculated out to be?
Did you like their program? felt like you learned alot? Teachers fair/good? CTC was alright... lol thats all I will say... Unfortunately I won't have too much experience working as an LVN, but i do have a strong background in the medical field.. My previous Job was a Clinical Certified medical assistant which i worked in Cardiology, Pulmonary, Family, Pediatrics, and did a little in Internal med and Ortho. I really think that helped me through the LVN program..
Anywho I turned my Application in today actually. I wonder how many people are applying to the bridge.. Ive heard they take 25-30 but normally only about 25... thats not very many... March is going to DRAGGG!!!! omg... I'm so impatient.. Where do you work? I see you've work in Med/surg.. Im really trying to find a med surg unit... I was offered a position at Darnall ER, but It will be awhile before i get on due to how slow the military works... lol. Haven't even been given my offer yet but they called me and told me I was chosen for 1 of 3 LVN spots.. Its taking forever because they are trying to do a direct hire vs their normal way... so Im trying to keep my options opened with the hope of landing a spot in the Bridge program.
My fingers are crossed for the both of us... :) I hope we get in... I wish their was another thread with more bridgers so we all could converse..
Hey you all first off I wish you all luck in the application and selection process! I am in the 2nd semester of the ADN program and I was exactly were most of you were a year ago. I do not have much info on the LVN program but I do for the ADN. Last year about 300 people applied to ADN and 60 were accepted. From talking to classmates I believe a GPA of around 3.3+ and a HESI score of 90+ with all prereqs complete places you at very likely of getting accepted. If you all have any questions feel free to ask, and look forward to seeing you all around campus :)
How do you like the program and how are clinically? do you feel like your really getting to do a lot of hands on? I really felt like CTC LVN program didn't allow us to have much hands on due to having to have the instructor with you during ALL procedure, (IV, foley, med admin, etc)... it was quite annoying... Ive heard TC allows us to be with a preceptor? If the nurse is okay with us doing IV's etc that we don't have to have our instructors present...any insight would be wonderful.. Also do you know much about the bridge program at all? Friends that have been through it or currently in it?

The program is pretty good. It was not what I was expecting it to be but that may have been my expectations for nursing school in general. I have only completed one semesters worth of clinicals and the experience was a good one. It is a slow building process with a focus primarily on Pt. safety and then for 1st semester documentation and other paperwork. Pt. interaction is plentiful but application of what you have learned is limited and anything you do most likely will have to be monitored by you Clinical instructor. You get to be hands on with what you have learned in the program. SO you do not do anything IV for example until you complete the IV portion etc.. We have not been with preceptors yet but I believe that will start 2nd year if it does, although to be honest I am not sure. TO be honest anything invasive will have to be watched by your instructor most likely, at least this is the vibe I am getting. 1st semester the only thing we really got to do was med admin. You get to watch or help with other treatments but you wont be the one performing them. Sry I do not know much about the bridge program at all, except for I believe they take 10-20 LVN bridgers and that they join beginning of 3rd semester.
The criteria for us was to score a 70+ in each section of the HESI. And no it isnt a given because you you 100% two sections and get a 75% in lets say math, your overall is 91.6% and wouldn't be accepted because of the failure to score a minimum of 80% in math. It is a new requirement for a minimum score because a lot of people aren't prepared for the math sections. I dont know how many it would exclude but i met a few people with scores in the 70s in this program. I think we would both be surprised. BTW 90+ makes you a really likely candidate most people I talked to scored in the 80's, but they may have made that up with GPA. Don't want to speak in absolutes but a GPA of 3.6, w/Hesi of 90+, and the prereqs done I think you are really likely of getting selected.

They will take your application and then you can turn in your upgraded transcripts after your semester. I had to do that with A&P 2, and Micro when it was required but I let them know they were in progress and they counted it towards my totals.
