I noticed that there has not been a 2014 topic started yet for the Temple College nursing programs. I am getting nervous and want to know if there is anyone out there applying for the same year I am. I will be applying for the ADN and LVN program. So far I have all my pre and co-requisites completed with a 3.76 GPA. I will be taking my hesi test this October, and I also live IN-district. I am nervous and losing sleep over whether or not my scores will be good enough!
The Dept of Health does immunizations, that's where I had one done. I don't know about physicals. Maybe a sliding scale med clinic?
As for the shot record, can you get your hands on the one from childhood? Your doctor can do blood titers to check immunization status if not. The hap vac takes like 6 months or so.
Summer,I got in! I am just overwhelmed by all the paper work necessary to complete the process.
Where is a good place to get immunizations and the physical? I have insurance but I don't think they would cover a physical. Is there a clinic that does physicals for a reasonable out of pocket price? Also, I'm sure I've had these immunizations but I haven't needed proof of them for so long that I don't know if I can find them. Where do you recommend for CPR training?
Thanks for all of your help and encouragement!
Alexandra
P.S. If anyone else knows, please post! Thank you!
Good luck getting in!! I was just accepted and it makes all of the hard work so worth it! My sister also applied and did not get in, so she will be re-applying. I got an 89 on the HESI and I had a 3.6 GPA. I had A's in all 3 of the pre-reqs and Bs in human growth and micro. I would recommend taking some classes over that you have Bs in and don't accept anything less than an A. Get that GPA as high as you possibly can! If you happen to not get in, DO NOT GIVE UP!! Don't get discouraged or let anything sway you from something you want!

Hi Alexandra! FYI, you may want to contact your insurance company because some of them will pay for physical exams. For example, mine does. Good luck to you and see you at orientation!
Hey, everyone. I enjoyed reading all of your comments. Lots of great information here! And congrats to everyone who will be beginning a program next week!!
I recently decided to pursue nursing, just now starting my prereqs this fall. I finished a BA in English two springs ago, taught for a year, and now I'm gping back to school.
I'm nervous about getting in because of how selective the programs seem to be. I'm considering applying to both the LVN and ADN programs just in case I don't get in to the ADN program the first time and then try to immediately bridge the next fall. Will it be any easier or difficult to get in to the bridging program? It seems like I would just be applying a second time with the same credentials other than being three semesters throuhh the LVN program.
What is a good HESI study guide? I expect to need to study the A&P content quite a bit since the only science I had to take for my bachelors was geology and astronomy. I took AP Biology in hogh school, but that was six years ago.
Also, I'm currently enrolled in A&P II, because A&P I is full. I'm on the waitlist for A&P I, second on the list. If I can't get it, do you think I would be okay taking A&P II first? And I'm registered for general psychology, trying to take lifespan at the same time... anyone else do this? I'll finish my prereqs next semester with the other A&P and micro.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
Hi there! I definitely recommend applying to both the LVN and ADN program. I was accepted into both programs for this year. My advice is to do well on your hesi, try for an 89 and up. Luckily you "only" have to do 3 sections (Math, Reading, Vocab.) I used this book that you can buy from Amazon:
I personally wouldn't take ApII first without the first course because in my class, APII referred alot back to API. That is just me though, you might be ok.
To be competitive, I recommend having all of your pre-req courses AND co-requs completed by the time you apply. You will score higher points having those done. They have changed the degree plan this year, so keep an eye on that for a change of classes. One thing that really helped me was attending the information sessions they have I believe the first Tuesday of the month but double check that. It is a competitive program, but just do well in your classes and score high on the HESI. The LVN is based more on your HESI and the ADN seems to go off your GPA more.
I hope some of that helps!

Does anyone know a clinic or doctor to go to for physical and/or immunizations for a reasonable out of pocket fee? I don't think my insurance will cover this.
HELP!
