Hello everybody!
I've corresponded with several nurses recently and all of us are looking for a good place to work and live. This includes realistic staffing ratios and reasonable cost-of-living. Please tell us if your location does or does not meet those qualifications.
Example: Southern Arizona has become quite expensive recently. Staffing ratios for Tele 1:3-4
M/S 1:6-7
Newer 1800 sq ft house $200,000+
wages about $25 per hour with experience
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!
i live in boston,ma- one of the leading cities for teaching hospitals- Mass General Hospital, Brigham & Women's, Beth Israel and a slew of others. wages are good; the downside is it's ridiculously expensive to live here, whether you rent or own.
many people are leaving boston because of the cost of living.
but many nsg opportunities here.
if you move to south of boston, you can get houses alot cheaper but then there's the commute. public transportation is everywhere however.

Well, Sydney is one of the most expensive cities in the world, but it's a great place to visit! Mona Vale is by the beach and there is a nurses home for temporary and cheap accommodation.

Wages are paid the same across the entire state so it doesn't differ from hospital to hospital within the public health system.... and public here is the norm.
A new grad gets just over AUD20 per hour, and 8th year and thereafter gets just over AUD 28 per hour. We've just won a pay increase of 3% from last january and again this coming July, then 4% from the following July.
I think the average house price in Sydney is around AUD 500,000 but then you'd probably only want to rent if you were out here for a year.

I relocated from New York City in 1987, and moved to North Carolina. The pay varies and depends on where you work. The scenery is beautiful.
I live in a nice college town, very close to UNC-Chapel Hill, and not far from Durham, which of course, has Duke University Medical Center. The people are very nice. I could make much more money in NYC, but its not all about the money. When I moved, I lived in a beautiful duplex, with a backyard area,
wall-to-wall carpeting, central heat and air, for only $475 a month. Things are a little more expensive now, but very affordable. You definitely get more bang for your buck here.
