Specialties Case Management

Hi! I'm interested in Telephonic Case Management. Is there anyone here who is doing this type of position? Do hospitals hire this type of position? :redpinkheThanks!

Thanks NVRN for stating your caseload, i think 160-200 cases is alot but 80's sounds better :wink2:

Jnformed in Annapolis Maryland does case management from home along with Nationwide Betterhealth. Both are hiring at this time

Specializes in Hospice, Case Mgt., RN Consultant, ICU.
There were so many issues with that company, I don't know where to start. The worst was the politics. For example, I had a manager there that literally threw tantrums in the conference room. She would throw things, scream, and embarrass people for no reason. But no one would turn her in because they were convinced that THEY would get fired. The employees swear that the complainer always gets fired. After I gave my notice, I requested a private meeting with HR to let them know what was going on. They thanked me for coming forward and asked me who else has witnessed this behavior, etc. Then they started questioning what I did to instigate this behavior. I was livid! Anyway, HR said they would interview other employees that have seen the behavior. This was 6 months ago. I no longer work there (thank God) but the other employees were NEVER contacted and the behavior still goes on. This is just one example, I could give you many more.

Thank you for sharing your experience with Blue Cross. This may be off topic as my position was not Case Management, but they were the most unprofessional company ever! Per the employee manual they do not allow employee harassment and if you are being harassed by your supervisor you are to go to HR. Bull! You are correct regarding HR. I made the mistake of going to HR and to the top nurse manager with a seven page report about what I was experiencing. Go to HR and you get terminated. Not because of any wrong doing on your part, but because HR wants you 'to be happy'.:uhoh3: I could go on and on with what went on in my department. But to be brief - avoid them or be sorry!:redbeathe

:D Thank you... Do you know much about either company that you list for case management?? I live in Maryland and have been thinking of switching fields and going into CASE MANAGEMENT.. Wonder if you have to have experience in CM to get started with them.. I have 5 years OR experience, school nurse experience, long term care, and 13 years pediatric private duty home care. I still work PRN in the OR and peds home care.. Seven months ago a took a postion with medassurant doing chart review and medical coding. I really do not like this.

Surprised to hear the bad things about Blue Cross because they currently have a opening for a peds CM:D.. I do believe that I would thrive in CM that also involved visits etc. instead of strictly telephonic. The add recently in advance for Informed sounds like you would be doing your CM work over the internet?? Thank you in advance for any information you may have... And thanks for your post.. :nurse::redbeathe:nurse:

No, you don't need previous CM experience, but you do need applicable clinical experience. Different areas of practice - CM, DM, and UM.

I love working from home. Very flexible and comfortable. The work is all done over the Internet - both phone calls and documentation. The company provides most of the technology.

Specializes in ICU.

Beachyfe, can you say which company you work for? I did case management for hospice about 2.5 years and am interested in a work from home type of job.

Can I get more information about the companies that you are aware of that do case mgmt from home?

Thank you
