Mary,
I have a couple of friends who may be interested in the telephonic position. They are both CCM certified. Please let me know any further information. Thanks.:typing

I did telephone case management for a large insurance company. Its like home care nursing but instead of going to the home you try to help them over the phone. I thought it was really boring.

It may sound good now, but telephone only case management is BORING. Beware being bored, as a nurse you will find that is only nice for about a year. I know, I spent 2 years at Blue Cross on the phones. It is way better to do home visits.
I was at Blue Cross also. Worse job ever!

Why did you think Blue Cross was the worst job ever? Just because of the boredom or?
There were so many issues with that company, I don't know where to start. The worst was the politics. For example, I had a manager there that literally threw tantrums in the conference room. She would throw things, scream, and embarrass people for no reason. But no one would turn her in because they were convinced that THEY would get fired. The employees swear that the complainer always gets fired. After I gave my notice, I requested a private meeting with HR to let them know what was going on. They thanked me for coming forward and asked me who else has witnessed this behavior, etc. Then they started questioning what I did to instigate this behavior. I was livid! Anyway, HR said they would interview other employees that have seen the behavior. This was 6 months ago. I no longer work there (thank God) but the other employees were NEVER contacted and the behavior still goes on. This is just one example, I could give you many more.

I do telephonic case management in Las Vegas for an MCO and I'm anything but bored! We are NCQA certified and are required to follow their guidelines. My case load is now in the 80's and I'm busy all day long.
