Hello everyone!!! Anyone attending TECO (KISSIMMEE, FL) LPN Program starting Jan 2011? I can't wait. Sooo excited. I hear it is a great school. Good luck to everyone starting LPN soon. :stdnrsrck:

SUNDREAMS26,

Thanks a lot, and congratulations for your acceptance to the program. I'm studying every day like 4 hours. I just want to feel prepare to take this test. If you remember something about the test let me know I will appreciate it. Thanks, I'm so happy for you. Thanks a lot...

sorry it took me so long, i used a review from a website called http://caring4you.net/Hesi_StudyGuide.pdf

When r u taking your test? I remember there were a lot of convertions from ml to cups, cups to qts and gallons, inches... what i did was extend my convertions for example 128 onz=16 cups=4 qts= 1 gallon=,and memorize them by using index cards, i def.got one to convert from onz-gallon i would study on commercial breaks while watching tv. It helped for me cuz i didnt waste time changeing the convertions

by hand. Also make sure you khow to set up proportions cuz i got a lot of those, and of course percentages!!! now if you give me more time i can look for more info i just put all my practice stuff away in August. Let me know what you need , don't stress!! pick the topic that is easiest for you on the test and do that first. That way you will have time to focus on the one that will need more of your attention. On the english portion pay attention to similar words they will try to trick you. On the vocabulary most likely the one that refers to the medical field is the answer.

SUNDREAMS26,

I'm going to take the test the first week of October. I have almost 3 weeks to study everything. If you can tell me what to study because I'm studying the review book but I really not feel prepare yet. I already study math and reading. Now, I'm going to the vocabulary section. And for me this is one of the hardest parts. Any help????Thanks a lot. If you can send me any material just let me know to send you my email. Thanks a lot...

The only thing i can tell you is to memorize them all.!!!

But i didn't memorize them word for word, i just used one or two clue words from the meaning. I got them all but not all were in the vocabulary section, some were used in the grammar section, they would use the vocabulary word and use affect vs effect, among vs between, amount vs number,.and so on... But if you are studying from the hesi admission assessment book you will be fine!!! You can do this..

Practice math everyday. So that you can do them correctly but quickly as well. I personally got one convertion of military time but it was easy. No roman numerals. Everything else is on that test. Did you get to look at the website i provided??? Let me tell you i was misinformed at teco i was told to study english vocabulary words, prefix, suffix and roots!!! From a medical terminology dictionary!!! I was never told to study from the hesi book cuz they had just started testing no one really new about it...so i actually failed my vocabulary the first time cuz i was studing that. When i failed with a 72% and paid again i was told then that i was misinformed by someone at the front desk and they finally told me .."no, no, no, just study what's in the book". So imagine how i felt that first time.. I passed all other sections with 98%/99% actually my sister failed as well same section!!

Don't freak out, it is not a hard test!!!

evelina3,

you will pass this test, just always stay positive!!

on the vocabulary if you know one, skip it forget it, just focus on those you have no clue about! good luck !!! if you need more help let me know, i will be glad to help!!:)

I took the Tabe test today. I scored very well. I was told that I should do well on my Hesi because the two tests are similar. By what I have been reading on these posts, the Hesi sounds more difficult. If you have taken it, please tell me what to expect. I would like to get into the January full time program. Are the spots to get into the program competitive? Or do most people that apply usually get in? The deadline for the application is October 31. Do you think there are still spots available? Any response would be appreciated!

Hello ascam,

I went to Teco this morning, was told that yes they still have space available!

When you pass all your test and hand in your application quickly, i have been told that your chances of getting in are good, its when they're approaching the deadline for apps and there are too many applicants for a couple of seats left that they start getting apprehensive. Purchase the Hesi review and keep up with the math memorize the convertion section , study/memorize all the vocabulary words. If you practice the book you should do great on the test!

Good luck!!

Soo sorry ashcam didn't mean to misspell your name!!

Thanks, Sundream! I am going to take the Hesi next Tuesday. I am going to Barnes and Noble tom to buy the book. I also printed out that study guide from the web site you posted. Between the book and the guide, I should do okay, shouldn't I? I am panicking over the Hesi test. Was it a very difficult test or am I just thinking too much into it? Also, it mentions an essay if you pass all parts of the Hesi. What was the essay for/about? Thanks!

Hello ashcam,

Don't be afraid, it is easier than Tease, Tabe or Net.

Focus on the areas you have trouble with, but still practice the ones you do know.Becase you don't want to make simple errors. I can't stress enough to study the vocabulary words. Good luck on Tuesday!!!! Don't panic!!!
