Teas V Help

Published

hey!

i am scheduled to take the teas v exam towards the end of this month. i'm looking for some guidance and advice. also, i bought the ati study guide and online exams and was wondering how much harder/easier are the online exams compared to the real test? i am scoring around a 75 on the online practice tests and was wondering if my score would go up/down on the real exam.

thanks for your help!

How did your TEAS go?

I don't think you were asking me but if you were I took version 4 back in June got a 89%.... my school is now administering version V so I have to retake it. So I am retaking it on april 1rst.

Thanks for the comments! Can anyone please attach or just type in the link for the macgraw hill teas study online?

How did your test go? Where did you take it?

I have been studying the ATI study guide for TEAS V and I did quite a bit better on the second practice test in that book than I did a week before on the first one. But tonight I paid for one of the online versions of the practice TEAS V and it was BY FAR AND AWAY more difficult. Wildly more difficult! I was so discouraged and demoralized. I take the real test on Friday morning and I am overwhelmed with how to approach preparing the next couple days. (I got about a 85% on the book's practice exam and only a 76% on the online one. And that is REALLY cutting it close to get into the school I'm applying to.) It's official: I'M FREAKING OUT!

SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME except my scores were worse than yours! The online one kicked my a$$ compared to the back of the TEAS manual. I'm terrified as well - especially about the science. :( How'd you do!?

Well, I got my results for the TEAS V and I got an 88%. I was thrilled with it, but have to also say that I studied incredibly hard for the test. A lot of people on this site talk about how easy the test is and I'm not sure why...honestly, I think it really depends on what your recent schooling has been. Although brushing up on Algebra was enough for me to do well, I have had VERY little Chemistry EVER so that was not something I was able to teach myself quickly. Getting a grasp of what this PARTICULAR test looks for in terms of READING COMPREHENSION and their use of terms like "theme" vs. "main idea", etc., really helped me do better and better every time I took a practice test. So I recommend it. I wish I had studied DNA/RNA and the VERY detailed processes involved in Meiosis & Mitosis. My test required very comprehensive understanding of those topics and I wasn't there!

Good luck to people taking the test!

is the test computerized or is it paper based? thanks

they have both available. Depends on where you take it. If you do it computerized you get your scores right away, if you do paper pencil it takes about a week.

Do it computerized waiting to get your results is killer!!!!!

Can anyone please give advice on key points to study for this exam?

I have this test tomorrow and am scared to death. I cannot comprehend most of the science stuff, it has been 20 years since I have had Chemistry, etc., and this is going to be hard. I do okay on the other sections when I practice, but am sure I am going to bomb the science section. I don't feel prepared enough. My school said to take it anyway, and then I can take it again if needed, they will talk to me about the best steps for me to take going forward. I have gotten some of your helpful tips, and am hoping they help me! UGGGGHHHHH! I have such anxiety about it, and it makes me question my ability to do well in nursing school!

It feels good to vent about this a little bit!

I took the test yesterday, there wasn't much chem questions on the science section... there were 2 or 3 questions.. one of them was to balance equation.. The other question was, the different bonds--covalent, ionic, etc. The properties of water... that sounds more like physics... but most of the science questions were of the human body and life science, then physics... and the least were chem questions... but i think not everyone test get the same ratio of questions...

If your goal is just to pass, u can aim to do well in English, Reading and Math, and still pass the test...

Do you know if you're taking paper or computerized test? I took computerized, and got the score on the next Click of the mouse after the test was done...

Good luck.. let us know how it went :)
