For those of you who have taken the TEAS exam how long did you study if you recieved a high score? I need at least an 83% to get into my program and I have taken it twice already and the highest score I have recieved is a 74.7% I have been studying for two weeks now for two hours or more a night, but I am still worried if I am studying enough.

My test anxiety is also a big problem of mine and I am just worried this is my last time to take it. So if you got a good score not just from being a good guesser than I can use any advise possible. Thanks

i have a lot of test anxiety as well. especially when it comes to math. i have always been that way. i took the net test two years ago, and my math score was just under what it needed to be. im scheduled to take the teas test next wednesday... im fine now, but come testing day, i will be freaking out!

i found out at the last minute about a nursing class forming and only had 2 weeks to prepare for the TEAS. by the time i found a study guide and studied, i was down to one week. i basically just looked over the study guide, studied mainly the math formulas and some sciene to brush up on my skills learned in the past, but forgotton. i managed to get an 85.6 - with basically no studying. (and i've been out of school for quite some time now too)

my best advise is to NOT STRESS OUT. you need a clear mind when taking the test. prepare by studying as best you can, but don't over do it -- you could study too much and doo poorly too. there is no way to really "study" for the exam, but rather "prepare." take a practice exam to find out where your at academically and then only study the areas you did poorly on ......

another free test prep site is: www.purplemath.com

good luck to you. remember to take a deep breath before the test, clear your mind and RELAX ..... you will do just fine.

Yes, this is very true. The night before the test, do not study, do something fun. Have a good 8 hours sleep, and then when morning comes, get a hearty breakfast, and just relax. You can do a quick review before a test. Make sure you allow plenty of time to get to the test area, so you wont be rushing to get there on time, cause this will add stress to you. The Teas is not that hard, just get the studyguide from Atitesting.com and you will be fine. You have to allow plenty of time to study it. And this is all you need. Do not worry about what score your aiming, this will only make you nervous, and stress you out even more. If you studied the study guide, you have nothing to worry about. The questions are basic bath(algebra, additions, division, word problems, etc) The reading is straightforward, English is mostly trying to find the right punctuations, and sentence structure, and the Science part, that answers are all in the study guide( look for geology part in the study guide)... Just do your best, I took my TEAS at University of TExas at Tyler.....I got a 87.5 reading, 82.2 math, 70 Science(my school doesnt need it) , and 85.5 english....

Did you get the study guide from atitesting.com ??? It has plenty of questions for you answer to assess which area you need to work on. ONly study first the areas you need to work on, then after you master that, review the other areas for confidence...

yeah, i agree. i had barely 2 weeks to study and my scores were reading 92.5%, math 86.7%, science 70%, english 85.5%. my overall was 84.1% i say that to say this; all you have to do is brush up on weak points and then relax. i got my first degree years ago and it's amazing how much of that stuff actually sticks. i guess it all depends on the school. the program i'm applying to requires a certain passing score for each section. if we fail a particular section, we just retake that specific subject over. this is a great opportunity, but we can only take it twice; the initial test and the retake.

Thank you for all of your comments. I have studied the atitesting guide and the Kaplen entrance exam book, but while I am taking the test I am focusing on time and the score at the end of the exam and not on the test questions which is very bad. I felt like the science section was the hardest for me because it is so random and stuff that I learned a long time ago. I have been studying alot but it never feels like enough. I just pray to God that I get a good score this time because I have only gotten discouraged up to this point :(. I know I will be a good nurse if I ever get into nursing school. I am taking it on the 21st of this month so keep me in your prayers please I will need all the help I can get.

:):wink2:Hey guys, I have been studying for the TEAS tst for about a month now....UGHHHH....it's gets really repetative. But there are some things as far as test prep goes so hopefully it will help someone else out: 1) Get the ATI study guide and online practice test. If you get them together it cost $68 which isn't bad since the practice test will help you assess which areas you need to study the most. 2) Testprepreview.com is an ok site to study from but I wouldn't put to much weight on studying what they say you need for the TEAS since if you click on a different test prep tab on the site it gives you the exact same study material (maybe minus or plusone section) it doesn't give real detailed info on each test individually. 3) I have been studying and actually know one of the tutors and the school I will be attending. As far as science goes I have been told through her and others who have taken the test not to rely soley on the ATI study guide for science. The best advice I have been given is to go to the library and get a GED Science study guide. It's free and a lot more in depth. 4) For math try Purplemath.com or use the Study guide, as well as for english and reading. 5) This link will take you so that you can download the Mcgraw-Hill's study guide: It's free and quick just make sure you upload it after you download it so others may use it as well. http://rapidshare.com/files/265845377/NursingSchoolentrance.pdf.html Sorry to ramble on but I wish that I would have had this information when I started studying so I thought I would pass it on. Good luck to everyone on the TEAS!!!
