Science questions.. Whew

They are similiar especially science. Go to the library and get other book compare and contrast

Hi Guys!

Just to let you know, that McGraw Hill book is a great reference for TEAS prep. I downloaded it for free

from rapidshare dot com. (I'm trying to avoid hotlinking anything so as to avoid raising any flags!!!)

Perform a search on rapidlibrary dot com using 'Nursing Entrance' as the search keywords and it should pop up

as a .rar file. Download the file to a folder of your choice, use Winrar to 'unrar' the file so to speak...and you will

have the entire book at your fingertips in a .pdf format file. Then one may use Adobe's free .pdf reader

(or Sumatra's) and study away to your heart's content. (I posted step-by-step instructions for the computer

challenged folks amongst us.)

I sat for the TEAS yesterday, Thurs. June 11th, and earned a 84.7% overall with approx. 8 hours study.

I had never taken a computer based test before, but felt comfortable with it after about 20 min. Oh, I forgot to add that some Youtube videos are invaluable. Search Youtube user 'mrthoth' ; he also goes by the moniker

'Yossarian the Grammarian'. His videos are excellent as are his teaching abilities. Short, sweet, and to the point.

As for content, it is my opinion that the vast majority of the posters of 'TEAS' related posts on this bulletin

board are dead wrong! All of the questions are based on knowledge of the material; however, at least 2/3 of those questions are exercises in critical thinking using one's knowledge of the material. ATI has designed a format

in which they test how well one can use the knowledge that they already have, and believe me that concept

was very cleverly hidden throughout the theme of the exam.

Ciao for now,

Tim

I'm in! Class of 2011 A.D.N.

Thanks but it's not letting you download!:crying2:

Hey everyone I took the TEAS test for UT Tyler on June 27 and this is what I did to prepare and what happened at test day:

I got the study guide from ATI...this I think is the best one to study because it prepares you for the exact format of the test.

The website I went was testpreview.com.....and look for the TEAS tab...this will give you more questions to practice on...

On the day of the exam....show up early...this what happened:

The exam is all computerized, you do not need a calculator, so that means you have to calculate everything on paper. In my school, Only 9 people took the test unlike the N.E.T. where 50 people showed up, and as always, Im the only guy there. Know your conversions, metric to standard and vice versa. Know your algebra, fractions, whole number calculations, and how to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius....that was my last math question...and make sure you get a scratch paper and write small so you can utilize all the space in it. There are questions in there that you must use paper, unless you have photographic memory. For sciences, know your geology.....Basically, Know everything on the ATI TEAS study guide....Depending on your school requirements(you need to ask your advisor) study only on the required test and try to get the competitive score, and not the passing score....it will look better..

You get your results as soon as you finish....and P.S. (do not move to the next page of the test until you certain your answers are all what you want them to be)

For UT tyler...the required/recommended score is 64% on reading and math and that is calculated on using the point system...

MY score was...87.5 on reading, 82.2 on math, 85 on english, and I know 70 on science( I dont need that for my school--I passed though)...my overall composite is 81.7....I was gonna retake the TEAS but my advisor said that score is good enough...so my advise is...Talk to your advisor!!! about the requirements in your school so you wouldnt understudy or overstudy some subjects.......Goodluck on the TEAS test, I think the hardest part is the science one due to geology and physics questions......Let me know if you have any further questions!!!!

Thank you this will help me a lot! I have purchased both books from NET and ATI as well since each school wants a different test. I thank you for letting me know about the metric conversion,it's been awhile. Now for physics and geology!:uhoh3:

You'll be fine, dont stress too much over it..I used to but not anymore...I dont think they expect you to know physics and geology that much (hint: they are not prerequisites)....just study the Ati study guide on that one...all the answers are there...Just try to do really good on the Reading and the Math...Heck!! try do good in all of them...but I do not know your school requirements...Good luck...

Glad you did well on the test

they have an acronym to help remember metric conversions ..... pretty clever.

king henry doesn't [usually] drink chocolate milk

the first letters of the words stand for the prefixes, with "usually" in the middle standing for the "unit", being meters, grams, or liters. many memory phrases omit the "usually", and consequently students forget where the basic unit goes, messing up their conversions. leave the "usually" in there so you can keep things straight:

kilo- hecto- deka- [unit] deci- centi- milli-

yeah thats a good one!!!..

I found your post really helpful. Thank you!

i'm taking the teas at uttyler myself on august 8th.

What did you think about the reading portion? was it similar to the way it was on the ati study guide? Have any other pointers that would help me?

Are you applying for the Sept 15th deadline for Spring 2010??? For the reading part, I just brushed up on the one from ATI book, and from testpreview.com....there are some questions where you have to draw an image on a paper...they give the instructions, and you just have to choose the right answer based on what you draw...hint:: do not confuse counterclockwise and clockwise....there are also graphs that you have to do, you just have to analyze it....Reading part is pretty easy I think, much easier than the Net. Just the review the study guide, and you'll be fine....The study guide is all you really need....Goodluck....

Question??? Are you taking patho and concepts this fall 2009??? cause I am....just wondering....I wont mind having a study buddy...

Yes i'm applying for the september 15 deadline. I've already handed in my application in person when i went to tyler to speak to an advisor and get an evaluation. Now it's just a matter of how well i do on this test! lol

But i thank You for your advice. I'll take any advice i can get especially since you've recently taken the teas test.

I'm going to TWU right now and was there for the past year..although their program is on of the best in the state, id have to take more exclusive classes which will delay me another semester. But i wont be moving to tyler till i know i've made it into their program. So for the fall im taking pathophysiology at twu and the nursing concepts online via uttyler. because twu doesn't have a nursing concepts thats equivalent to uttyler. So i'm really hoping i get into Tyler. The advisor i spoke to was really nice and i'm really hopeful i get in!

sorry if i've rambled on... lol.

But it seems like you've got a really good chance at getting into Tyler!! :)

Lucky for you you can stay in TWU to take pathophysiology, and do online nursing concepts. I live in Houston, and here there is no other place you can take patho besides a community college, in which UT Tyler does not accept. TWU and UT houston does offer it, but only to the accepted students. I have to take it in Tyler no matter what. Its a risk I'm willing to take. I have about 81.3 points, and for fall 2009 someone got in with 73.1 points. Oh well, Im just prayin..... Im kinda tired in applying to different schools and at the same time getting broke paying those application fees......Good luck to you, and hopefully....Spring 2010 clinicals!!
