teas prep help, Adkins Academy

Published

I took the TEAS test and I failed it twice and I am getting very discouraged I was just wondering if anybody knows of a good school that they went to and that helped them pass the TEAS test maybe a little crash course. I don't mind doing it online just as long as I past. I have one more chance and that's it. Please help me if you can. I was doing a little research online and stumbled upon a school called Adkins academy. Has anyone ever heard of that and if so I appreciate any reviews. Thank you

I failed the TeasV after much studying. I had the McGraw Hill and ATI books with online tests. The course I took was an intensive 1 week course by ACLS 123 critical care training center. The cost was 499 not including the ATI book or TeasV test fee. So you are looking at 700 bucks. My original score was 57.3 :( and meant I was out and had to reapply next year. My school only allows 2 tries for TeasV and thats it. I remediated and took a plato teas program, test taking strategies, and a refresh on spelling, grammar, and punctuation courses. I took a week off work and took the ACLS course I passed with an 83.3! I reapplied in February and received my letter of contingent acceptance 1 week ago. The course was brutal but I felt prepared for what nursing school was going to be like. Each day was broken up into sections and taugt by a professor with a phd or masters who had taken the test. Had I heard of Adkins Academy I would have done that first. I now realize I cannot skimp on any part of nursing education as I borrowed the money and will not hesitate to do so for the Kaplan NCLEX when I graduate. Passing the TeasV was not easy and the course laser focused on what I needed to study. Goodluck! Please post and give an update I would love to hear how it worked out.

Hi Ladybug:

Do not despair, the Adkins Academy helped me to score in the 99th percentile on the TEAS science section - you can too! I am impressed with the Adkins Academy, and I highly recommend to everyone that they prepare for their TEAS exam with the Dr. Adkins. It is not inexpensive, but Dr. Adkins guarantees a minimum TEAS score of 78% (= 85 percentile), see link below.

At the least you should call and talk to Dr. Adkins at the Adkins Academy before you decide on your best route to success. Whether you choose to invest with Adkins or not you will be better informed.

I am starting with ACLS the beginning of August. So the 499 does not include the test? I have the book and have starting reading it already. How did taking the test this time with the class differ from the other times and if you don't mind my asking how are the classes structured?

thanks so much

Hello :)

The 499 did NOT include the TeasV test. In fact I didn't know I had to book the test and was fortunate in that they were able to open up a test date. Otherwise I would have had to wait 2 weeks to take the test. It turned out that when I took the TeasV in April 2013 ATI was piloting the TeasV and it was harder! ATI has now honed the test in. Bring food they have a frig and go for a walk around the block or take a rest during your break. Each professor has taken the test even though there are several versions. They don't mess around. Do the homework they assign, it was brutal I studied for hours each day and I passed. Practice your math, read the heck out of the ATI book. The difference in taking the test was they taught you how and why. My friend did the course over 4 weekends and she liked that better. She scored an 80! Good luck! Please let me know how it goes :)

I forgot to add the structure. They give you a folder for each subject. Each folder contains what you need for the day. I believe it they have changed the order in which they teach the subjects but it's English, Reading, Math, Science, It's a rapid pace. Each day was 8hrs of instruction. 1 hour break. The last day was review and the test if you signed up for it. I took the test after review and did well. Good luck!

I can not thank The Adkins Academy enough for preparing me to take the TEAS V test for nursing. Without the preparation Dr. Brian gave me, I would not have been able to score 95% nationally on the test. He will give you the insight and skill to score well. He takes you through all parts of the test. If you have questions, he is always there to quickly answer 24 hours a day by email, telephone or text. You pay for what you get. If you want the edge, against the competition, so you can get into nursing school, get prepared with The Adkins Academy. You will not regret it. They are the best!

The tuition cost for adkins academy is $1000

Hi All, I am so interested in taking the TEAS through Adkins Academy. But, Is the fee upfront or do they accept payments?

How much does it cost?

How was that ACLS course you took?? Did it really help??

Hello, Marley31. I am taking the ACLS course in Southern California the week of 2/1. I do not live in Southern California. However, I am going to stay with my sister in West Hollywood.

I hadn't heard of ACLS until my friend, who is in nursing school called me to say that I should take the course. I have been studying quite a bit. However, I do get a bit of test anxiety, so I believe the classes will be helpful. My friend was extremely adamant that I sign up, and at first, the idea seemed crazy. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that the cost of $499 was a decent price. My hope is the classes will be totally worth the cost and if not, the cost won't destroy me either. I trust my friend, and I am looking forward to the time away.

I take my actual TEAS V on 2/6 (the day after I return). I'm going to be tired, but extremely ready to get this all behind me. I'm doing my best to stay in a great head space and be confident in my ability to do well!
