TEAS MATH

Going for my lpn to rn. Failed the math section on the teas twice. Please tell me I'm not the only one. Math is EVIL. I can do nursing math fine. Algebra and that other crap is another story.

Hi karenmy,

I'm so sorry to hear about that - Uggg...I dread math!!! I'm taking my TEAS exam next month and I'm absolutely horrified about the math and science portion. How'd you do on the science section? Any tips, bcuz I definitely need all I can get

the math section is easier than the ati book. it is mostly fractions (add, sub, divide) ... and adding and subtracting numbers from a list. I=prt and very little algebra - I think 1 right triangle - a2 + b2 = c2

I am not doing so well on the science portion of the TEAS. Can anyone give me some insight on to what to expect from the science section of the TEAS! I take my TEAS exam on Jan. 28th at 9am! I am worried, yet as ready as I will ever be. I know Chemistry really well, and A and P pretty good too. Can you please help! Thanks!

I just took my TEAS exam tuesday and from what I remember on the test, you need to know the mRNA and tRNA coding stuff, sccuracy and precision, the primary, secondary, and tertiary consumers, atomic/chemistry section, the rock cycle, hydrologic cycle,etc.. I go to Delgado Community College and that's what was on the test. Good luck!

Just found out about accuracy and precision. Thanks so much for your help!

Just figured out accuracy and precision! I am good with the other stuff I believe. I am so excited and nervous at the same time. I hope I do great! What was your score? What is the average score? I heard about 73 percent is national average. I hope I test in the high high eighties or possibly low nineties. I can do this! I HOPE and PRAY! Thanks again!

The minimum score to be considered for nursing school varies according to what state you live in or what college you attend. The school i am applying for is in New Orleans, Louisiana. I made an 80% studying only for a few weeks. Make sure you watch your time limit especially on the math section. I ran outta time and had like 5 questions left (no calculators allowed). High 80's or 90's would be a good competitive score! I wish you the best of luck!

I hope I score in the nineties! That would be great! I am totally ready and I don't want to syk myself out or anything, but I know I can do this! I have been studying for about a month, had the book in hand two months ago and I have been steadly studying constantly. I know time is an issue for most, but I am a good test taker and I hope and pray I don't run out of time. My test is on a scantron, not computerized. I will get my score in about 2 days. Hopefully sooner. Then, if I do well enough, I will be accepted to apply to Cal State. They haven't released any applications yet unless you do well enough on the TEAS. This is make it or break it for me. I think I am more comfortable on taking a scantron exam because then I can write all over the exam and stuff like that. I hate having to scroll on computers to read stuff. That is just me though. The other campus I am looking at is a local college but they only have Associates degrees. I really want the bachelor's degree. This has been my dream for a long time. I am 28 years old and I need your Zen right now! Thanks for the goodness you have been sending me :redbeathe This means alot to me!

Is your college in California? Just wondering. My friend took her exam last Saturday. but She wont' even give me any details on the exam. I have got more out of this site then ever! I owe everyone a ton of thanks. I am going to post everything I remember tomorrow after my exam to help others who are patiently waiting to take their exams. MIMI07 takes hers I believe on Saturday. I wish the best of luck to her as well. By the way, How did you do on your TEAS? I won't know until 24-48 hours after I take my exam. But, I have to be patient! Thanks For everything. I looked up the stuff you said to study and I am as ready as I can be! HoPEFULLY! GOSH, I don't know what else I can do!

Well, I am one of those weirdos who like math. It does not come naturally to me, it's a slog and I make plenty of mistakes but here's what I have to offer in the way of advice:

1.Don't be afraid of math. It's just computation, numbers you know and numbers you don't know and Algebra is just deduction. You have, in your brain, the toolbox for this, using it often will give you the same kind of proficiency a master mechanic has approaching a machine.

2. Try to realize that math is beautiful; abstract perfection. People who REALLY love math say things like "math is or at least provides insight into the mind of God".

3. It's important to try and understand the equation rather than just trying to apply a formula. With practice, the formulas become second nature, the actual art of the equation is what needs to be sought if one is going to really internalize math.

If you haven't, I'd encourage you to get a good tutor as well. Learning math is worth it. I cannot tell you how many times find myself using Algebra in my every day life.
