What do you do when a teacher comes to the clinic and asks for tylenol? I know that under my license I am unable to dispense meds without a Doctor order-----do you just lay the tylenol on the counter? thanks

I did not administer medications to teachers. I did not have an office supply of OTCs. Each child supplied their own bottle.

There is a supply of tylenol, Ibuprofen, cough drops and antibiotic cream available to teachers in a cabinet in the sickroom. If they ask for it I just point to where the staff supply is. I don't touch it or participate in any other way.

I don't administer any thing to teachers. Many of them have asked me personally for tylenol. Even though I have some in my purse for myself... I still don't offer or give them anything. I'm sorry but I only administer meds to students with docs orders !

Don't do it! I really feel these adults in the building need to be more responsible. Just because there is a nurse in the building does it mean we provide free meds. I have had teachers argue with me on this. Even after i explain the policy and the Nurse Practice Act, they say....I am sure you keep some with you. Pleeeaasssssseee!
They also want forks, spoons, coffee cups, plastic baggies, alcohol pads, etc. My $130 yearly budget would be gone in 4 minutes if I provided all the stuff the staff thinks I should!

My nurse leader gets free generic meds that include advil and tylenol. We keep a log but they are taking at their own rish and administration. I don't know why they supply this, maybe to keep them from leaving campus to go get it. But I am not supervising it, just storing it. But my former school district did the same thing. I am glad this school district doesn't store OTC tylenol for students like the former district did. Students went through the 1000 pill bottle like candy.
