Would anyone be willing to give me information on how they felt their TCU interview went? I (like everyone else I'm sure) sat before three interviewers. They were all very friendly and polite. I was quite nervous but not overly so as to where I thought it showed too much. They did not ask me any clinical questions. They primarily asked me questions about my experience, why I wanted to become a CRNA, if I was interviewing anywhere else and if I had shadowed anyone before. I told them I had shadowed someone about 2 1/2 years ago or so. At that point I was asked what the name of the person was with whom I shadowed. I could not, for the life of me, remember her name!! I didn't even think to come with that information as it had been nearly three years ago and, at that time, I was just trying to assess whether the CRNA route was even for me. I can't somehow shake the feeling that that docked me some points somehow. Also, they asked me what I thought the relationship between CRNAs and Anesthesiologists consisted of. I told them I felt as if the Anesthesiologist functioned somewhat in a mentor role capacity (due to their extensive amount of education when compared to CRNAs), and as someone who would help CRNAs out when things got out of control in the OR. They were very polite, but then educated me on the fact that CRNAs can function 100% independently without an Anesthesiologist even on staff! This was news to me as I had always heard and read that there must always be at least one Anesthesiologist on staff with CRNAs! Oops. I was a bit embarrassed that I did not know this, but also thankful for the tip. I left the interview with mixed feelings. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I too interviewed in front of three individuals. I was also asked about, experience, employment, education, certs, scores on CCRN, clinical site rotation picks, a few personal questions regarding GPA/GRE and other questions I will not mention. I was very nervous going in seeing that they didn't have my name on the list when I went to interview (it almost felt like they quickly got my file and gave it to the interview panel to quickly interview me when a slot became available). That was one negative I had about TCU and it really discouraged me going in to the interview...they didn't seem prepared and didn't exactly know who they were interviewing. The photographer informed me that it wasn't the first time that day that a name was left off the list. Overall, I did have a good experience...I'm just hoping they didn't just interview me to interview me. The panel was great...they made me feel relaxed...it was a quick 30 minutes. I didn't have clinical questions either.

Congrats to all on just getting interview. Similiar experience to previous posts. Much more relaxed interview than TWU, but left wondering if i was liked or unliked. Interview hammered more on science grades, experience and commute time to TCU. I was very suprised by the 10-15 min discussion of a 45 min commute to school. Did anyone else have such a discussion? Can anyone confirm the # of people interviewed by TCU? I was told 180 for 70-75 spots. Good luck to all.

my interview on friday with tcu was very similiar. there were 5 people, 2 female, 3 males. they asked me all the same questions they asked you. no clinical component. towards the end she asked me if i got excited about anything. i told her "of course, why do you ask?" she said i just seemed so laid back and down to earth. i guess i wasn't nervous. my response the her was that i've learned in life to take things in stride and that i know that god has a plan for my life, and there decision of whether they wanted me or not was out of my control. i told her i couldn't change who i was to give them a certain impression of me. she looked shocked when i finally shut-up, pleasantly shocked though. i was also told i would hear something this weekend about possibly starting the dnp track on monday, haven't heard yet. been accepted elsewhere, kinda torn. any advise?
jwcyclone...I was told pretty much the same...180 interviewees for about 80 slots. Good luck to you as well! I'll keep you posted. Right now, I'm just nervous. Two weeks seems like forever to wait!! Ha! Ha! I have an interview at TWU on Monday morning.
mel725...I think it's more of a personal preference. They did ask me if I was interested in their DNP track, but I told them not at this time. I told them I knew that CRNA school would be no cake walk and that I'd like to take this large bite first and then possibly continue on at a later date. If I were you, I'd just wait and see, unless your heart is pretty set on the other school that you've already been accepted to. TCU's my first choice, so I'll just have to wait and see. Just my opinion and my two cents, for whatever it's worth. Good luck to you in whatever you decide!

Not at TCU, but I was also asked the names of people I shadowed. The question threw me as well. I did know some of the names, others I could not remember. I wondered how they are going to use that information. Were they just testing me, or were they planning to call the people I shadowed?

Its Sunday, and I still havent heard anything. Im kind of the same, if I get in, then it was meant to be. I was pretty laid back in my interview as well. I already have my ACNP, so if I dont get in the DNP tract , I really wont sweat it. It seems like a big step. I was thinking just CRNA school was going to be extremely difficult. I told them I was interested because I would like to do it , but not going to be hard on myself if I dont get a call for it. I find it interesting after listening to how others interview went, that we pretty much got told the same thing.

similar experience here.
was told they interview 180 for 75 slots --- why so many? why not weed more and interview less?
apparently everyone wants DFW. Heard some got accepted on the spot if they took distant sites (Florida, Cali)...that is not an option for everyone who applies. If I could pack up and go to California, then believe me, I would have applied to every school in the USA (last year)... but I can't, so I applied here, WHERE I LIVE.
It is a great feeling to work your ass off the last 5 years and then be told "there are 150 just like you... why should I pick you". Not much tact.
feeling dejected,

Anyone received their letter yet? I know they said they would make their decisions on Monday (1/12) and then start sending out the letters. I live in Kansas, so my mail comes after those of you in Texas. Good luck to everyone!
