I absolutely agree. i was/ and still am part time a flight nurse for 10 years then i got my acnp. I wish though that i had gotten my fnp first, then my acnp only because, er where i live tends to be small and rural and therefore sees alot of kids, which i cant see. when i wanted to go back throught the fnp program, it was so full, they were letting the ones who had no degree yet go first, so ive been on a waiting list forever. I want to work er, but have to find one that will not require me to see kids. Anyway, I was not interested in all the fnp stuff either, but now i work as a hospitalist and can see where it would come in handy. I see icu and med/surg pts, and some of them are well enough to be at home, so their care is different than the icu care im used to. Knowing about all ages though including womens health comes up in internal med as a hospitalist, because you get everything!!

Its Sunday, and I still havent heard anything. Im kind of the same, if I get in, then it was meant to be. I was pretty laid back in my interview as well. I already have my ACNP, so if I dont get in the DNP tract , I really wont sweat it. It seems like a big step. I was thinking just CRNA school was going to be extremely difficult. I told them I was interested because I would like to do it , but not going to be hard on myself if I dont get a call for it. I find it interesting after listening to how others interview went, that we pretty much got told the same thing.

Ok, I didnt get a call on Friday evening and was disappointed, so maybe that was premature. Do you know when class starts? I was told next week, meaning they have to decide pretty quick, I would imagine. Yea, let me know, I would like to know for sure, cause if I have to start next week, I have to prepare a little bit, but oh well.

I interviewed at TCU, in FT worth on Wednesday. They are starting a DNP program that actually starts this Spring. It will be prior to starting CRNA school in August. You have to qualify, and I already have a masters. Interview went well, it seemed, however , I never got a phone call. But anyway, its the first year they have integrated the DNP into the CRNA program. It would be full time starting this spring, summer and then you follow in with the CRNA program in the fall. I think you also have to do research along with your other courses in fall. Very difficult. But its there.
