TCU ABSN 2012

Published

Hello everyone! I have submitted my application for TCU's Accelerated BSN program. I am getting ready to take the HESI A2 next week and my file will be 100% complete. I have been checking allnurses.com frequently to see if there are any other TCU 2012 hopefuls, but haven't come across anyone yet! Are you out there?? If so, lets start talking!! :)

A little about me...I have been working as a medical sales representative for close to 10 years. I have worked in pharma, device, disposables, biotech, services, and specialty pharmacy. Throughout the years, my love for the medical industry has only increased until one day I decided to take the plunge and start my pre-requisites. Now with them completed, I am looking into TCU (first choice), El Centro (2nd choice, only have one additional pre-req to take) and UTA (still have 6, yes, 6 pre-requisites to take and doubtful I will be able to apply by for the Fall 2012 start class, perhaps the spring 2013). I live in Lantana (outside of Flower Mound) so I will be commuting each day to the school I get accepted to (fingers crossed).

So that's my story! What is yours?? :nurse:

Kerinky, Well i just went through and looked at all the options under the page, I didn't think that I made it private or invite only.... rats!! Well you can find me on FB and Ill see what the deal is:) My name is my user name, Tara Ewell

Sorry, I am new to making FB pages

I couldn't find the FB page either??:(

Well, even though I knew I was accepted a couple of weeks ago when I called to check, I FINALLY got my letter today! I had to go pick it up at TCU because the first one got lost in the mail apparently! Anyways, I made my deposits today and I am good to go! I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty excited about all of this. :)

I made my deposits today as well Kerinky! I am excited! Congratulations on finally getting your formal letter of acceptance :yeah:

Well I sent in my deposits last week. I started all my vaccines this week, and Im taking my CPR class this morning. I think im going to order that book and break it down before class gets here.

Tara I tried to find you on FB does your middle name start with a G and you are from Georgia? Sorry just want to make sure.

If anyone wants to find me look me up on face book im Sammy Downe. The facebook page for all of us sounds like a good idea.

So has anyone gotten any further information about the textbook that the current ABSN student suggested? I want to buy it if we need it. Also, I made a facebook account so I can join the page. Have y'all been able to find it? My name is Ashley Harris and I put TCU as my school so you would be able to find me that way! :)

Ashley (kevsgirl) - I never found out anything official, but I went ahead and bought the 7th edition on Amazon for super cheap - I know there is an 8th edition coming out sometime, but two things: 1) I figured we might be able to use to most recent edition prior to the new one, even if they ask us to get the 8th edition, and 2) even if they absolutely want us to have the new edition, or if they scrap this book altogether, I figured it couldn't hurt to go ahead and get the book and start reading and outlining it - it's recent enough information to definitely be helpful, and anything that gives us a heads up prior to starting can't hurt. Plus it was cheap, so even if I can't use it for class, I figured it was worth it anyway. ;) In any case, check around - you might be able to pick up a cheap copy! Check Amazon or Half-Price Books! :)

I went ahead and bought the book and already started reading it. Already on chapter 6. I figured it couldn't hurt plus i was told we cover the whole book if not most of it in our first 2 week course. This book is over 1200 pages and 50 chapters so i'm glad i bought it early!!

I bought the book too, I am waiting for it still:( also I am paid too:) I updated my Facebook so I should be able to be found which may help us find the TCU page! Tara Schwirtz ewell is my name:) where did you guys read about which vaccines we need?

Got the book. Paying on Friday!! :)Getting scrubs next week too!!

tarawell: I found the vaccines needed under the tcu nursing webpage. Click on current students tab then from that drop down click student handbook. It is on page 27 - 28. The most important that needs to be done ASAP is the Hep B because it is a series and you must have it before you can start clinicals.

Just to let everyone know what I was told from the TCU office. On the hep b vqccine the first 2 shots have to be done before classes start. The third and final shot can be taken during classes.
