PICU experience for DNP-A program
I thought I would ask although I havent even graduated yet. Im in an accellerated BSN program that finishses in August. I am hoping to get a job at an level 1 trauma ICU or a large childrens hospital in the area. I have built a small network and know a few people at the childrens hospital so I think I should be able to land the PICU job. Im not a 100% on the level 1 trauma ICU job. I really like the PICU especial the CV portion. Another issue I have is age and I need to get the correct experience quickly and move forward and not stale With that being said I have an email into the program director but have not heard back yet. So would going the PICU route be a mistake or do you know people that have succeded with PICU experience. Thanks for your time.

TCU ABSN 2012
Well I finally got all documentation submitted today now like someone else said the long wait starts. I wrote my essay about growing up on a dairy farm and how that shaped me to be successful in sales and management. I feel like I missed something with the application process. All the emailing with no responses, and depending on the Universities I attended to send transcripts has given me an uneasy feeling Hey Jene (JAMSALEStoRN) do you have any contact info? I would like to ask you a few questions if possible. Shiner50 do you have any contact info? I would like to ask you some questions about the program if possible Thanks

I talked to ******* about my grade as well and she said I didnt really have anything to worry about. I dont know if she said that to be nice and not freak me out or telling the truth. From the info I gathered from her which seems to be true is that they put a lot of emphasis on essay, resume, personality, and then the other stuff is just kind of for qualification. I dont know anything other than I really need to get in. Ive heard of people with exceptional HESI and GPA scores not get in as well as people with standard scores get in. I dont know I just hope I got what they want. They also told me that undergrad GPA wasnt that important. I hope they are right because my undergrad gpa is awful. What has everyone done for the essay? I think I really need to shine in the essay

If we could connect in time it would be nice to carpool? but thats completely up to you?I have been in outside sales and management in different arenas in the last 10. I've sold construction equipment, and payroll software. Last January I just couldn't stomach anymore and im hoping this is the right path. Im a semi tall (6' 0) red headed guy. I am also worried about the math portion. I have been studying some manuals the last two weeks so I will so how it goes.

Job Market in DFW...is it really that bad for new grads?
Im new here and had a question due to reading some of the threads. I have a degree in Business from UNT and decided I wanted to go back to school and get a BSN. My plan is to apply to TCU accelerated program this upcoming fall. From everything I have read here Jobs are no where to be found? Is this correct? At least for new grads? I plan on staying in the dfw area and really want to become a nurse, but seriously how bad is the market for new grads? Thanks for any input you could share.
