Tb test and vaccines

I just got accepted into nursing school and I need to get my MMR shots and Tdap as well as a two- step mantoux done before December 23rd. I scheduled to have my mantoux done tomorrow morning but I went into my local pharmacy and had my first MMR shot today. I just read somewhere you have to wait to get tested 28 days after you had the MMR shot :/ I had no idea about this... Anyway my question is, am I absolutely required to wait 28 days? Im just really struggling to get everything done in time...

@ farawyn - I read in a few places mono can interfere with test results.

@ blondenurse12 - does it matter in what order you would get them on the same day?

Well I went in and asked about it and she said she was not aware of the MMR interfering with the TB test.... So she gave it to me anyway. I hope the school doesn't put up a fit.

I called my doctor to schedule my annual TB skin test that I have to have for nursing school as well as employment (my employer does not do it onsite or pay for it). He no longer uses the skin test but rather the blood test called Quantiferon ®-TB Gold. It takes a few days to get the results back from the lab but it's supposedly more accurate with less false negative results. My insurance covered it. I'm not sure the cost. My clinical site would accept either test result

My school only requires PPD unfortunately...no blood test for me.

They'd likely accept the blood test as its more accurate. They don't require it because it's not always covered and isn't cheap

I asked my advisor if I could get the blood test and she says they won't accept it and that it needs to be PPD.

I've never heard this information. We give ppds to all new employees and that isn't on our paperwork. Interesting. Unless the result comes back positive, I doubt your school will even notice.

Makes no sense but it is what it is.
