Thank you so much franharmon for asking and caring:). Yes, I'm very enjoying and love my job a lot. There are some CNAs here at my facility that are so nice and helpful b/c when I ask for help w/ the transfer and lifting they would willing to help me out. And there are some CNAs that come and offer to help me too which make me feel like I cannot thanks them enough but in return I did offer to help them back too. Also there are some nurses that are very nice too but there is this one nurse that I very like the most b/c she offer to help me many times. There are some patients that I'm very attached to as well they're all consider as my grandmas & grandpas. Also there are some pt that attached to me too and they asked me to be their cna and I'm glad that these pt like me too. I'm working w/ different group of pt every day and at different stations too. However I did get to work w/ the same group again many times as well but sometimes I got easy and sometimes I got difficult group of patients. So this month I got to work 20 days (8 hrs shift) as a on-call, part-time. I'm very glad and joyful that I got that many hours to work. But the upcoming month I only got to work about 10 days that's all but sometimes I'm off and they called me to come in to work too. Some people at my facility said that I'm showing a positive attitude b/c whenever they called me to come in to work I always answer the phone. They also remind me to always answer the phone when the facility call b/c there are some cna that dont answer their phone when the facility call them. Overall, I very like my job and the ppl at my facility;).

If you are working full time hours then they need to give you full time benefits. It's good that you are ready and willing to work, but it sounds like they are taking advantage of you. Learn not to answer your phone every time they call, or else you will be taken advantage of even more, because they won't even bother to call anyone else. Don't let them walk all over you. They are doing this to me right now. Don't be their patsy. You will regret it in the long run. Trust me. They call me every single day. Even on days I already work. If you are working full time hours, they need to give you full time beneifits, and pay over time. Just because you want to fit in, or because you want them to like you, doesn't mean you should let them call you all the time. I am learning this the hard way right now.

Such good advice. Don't be on call without being paid fairly, by that I mean RECEIVING benefits. The manager won't put you on the schedule and give you full time schedule because you have shown her that she can call you in whenever she pleases, and it seems like you don't mind. You should mind, though. It's disrespectful to call too often, because she is disregarding your entitlement to a personal life outside of work. since they seem to need you so often, they could just give you some more regular hours so you can plan accordingly. I know you don't want to lose your halo, so to speak, but you should stand up for yourself. They like you already! so now is the best time to show others how you'd like to be treated.

I'm very appreciate for the advices that you two provided, cna in iowa and Laur318. So as I mentioned above I only work on-call, part-time so there is no benefit at all. But that's fine w/ me for now. I love my job soo much that I'm happy that they called me to work even on my day off, I know you guys might think I'm crazy but I'm just in love w/ my job, LOL. I'm just glad that they give me more hours to work b/c I would get bore if I stay at home. This semester I dont go to school b/c my plan is to work and save money so I can go back for the LVN school. I dont mind that they call me on my day off at all. But sometimes they called me but I'm not answer the phone til the second or third phone call b/c I'm very tire on that day and I just wanna stay home. But then I realize that I'm just get hire so I cannot have the choice for not answer the phone b/c I'm worry that they will fire me and would hire someone else. I dont want to lost my job b/c you cannot believe how much I love my job, my patients and everyone here at my facility. Anyway I hope that soon they will give me a regular schedule, full-time b/c that's what I'm looking forward to. So thanks again guys for the advices:)!!!

I realize how difficult it is to get a job in San Jose so how much you want to work hard to keep the one you got. Work when you want to. If you don't get benefits and it is ok with you, that is ok too, up to a point. If you find that you have been working the equivalent of full time for about four months or so, you might want to broach the subject of getting hired full time. If not for the benefits, so that you have a set schedule that you can plan school and your home life around. Keep up the good work. As long as you are doing well at this job, remember that you are building your first LVN job offer. Continued best wishes to enjoy your job.
Yes, I'm very easy when choosing cna job, I would take whatever available. I told them I would take any shift and available 24/7. I graduated and cannot find a job until 7 months later so of course I cannot be picky otherwise I would end up having none. I'm happy that they hired me so that's already good enough for me therefore I dont wanna ask or expect anything from them for now. So thanks caliotter for the post and the best wishes:).

:) Everything is going great over here. I've been a CNA for about 10 months now, and I LOVE it.:redbeathe Went through all the doubts and worries in the beginning if it was for me or not. There are no doubts now. Extremely hard, tiresome, backbreaking, and absolutely REWARDING! Although I can't stand getting up in the morning, getting at the job makes it all worth it.
My coworkers and the residents are like a big family to me. The staff works together as a team. The residents are usually half independant, half total care on an assignment. I get as many hours as I want. They are very available. And If I want to lessen my hours for the week, I can do so. I love the 11-7 shift. The job is awesome because I feel like I get paid for doing something I love.
Right now one of my favorite residents is in the hospital. It's not looking good so I'm praying for him.:redpinkhe

Exactly. I know at my last job, if you worked 1000 hours for them in a yr., you had to be offered a part time or full time position.
Let your HR department know that as soon as a full-time or part-time position becomes available, that you are willing to accept it.
