Tarrant County Spring 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

I am starting this for anyone who is applying for the TCC RN program in August.

Jefe- i actually cannot remember where i read it, but we have to wear a v-neck. But you can wear a crew neck t-shirt under it though.

The textbook for nursing skills says 4th edition on the student package and 5th edition on webadvisor?!?!?! I didn't buy this one until I make sure... I bought 4 other books, one of them was only 7.95$ and I still spent more than 200$!!! Ouch :smackingf

That doesn't even include the supplement books on the list...medical dictionary, diagnosis book, etc.

Specializes in Hoping to do either L&D or Trauma.

I remember seeing the v-neck somewhere too but for the life of me I don't remember where, maybe last year's board? When looking at those white tops the material seemed very thin so I can't imagine not wearing some sort of undershirt year-round, even if it's just a tank. I mean, if you were to wear anything other than a white or nude bra it seems like you'd see everything . . . LOL

LOL! well when we start it'll be the middle of winter, so im sure most of us will be wearing something underneath, or our labcoats :lol2:

hehehe I'll wind up wearing long sleeves year-round unless I can find bandages large enough to cover the tattoos on my wrists. Speaking off, tattoos ONLY have to be covered in a clinical setting right? Not during class??

Cross- I think so..

Hey, I would recommend going with V-neck. Everyone in this semester has one. All of the clinical instructors will have different requirements, but some are VERY particular and I don't think they will be changing their ways anytime soon, lol. A lot of us ladies bought the grey's anatomy ones and are actually pretty cute. Yes you will want a nude bra so it doesn't show up, and also socks that are higher than your ankles. No colorful undies that show up when you lean over either (They will tell you all of that at orientation). Hmmm....can't really think of anything else right now. I would def go with V-neck, but it can be fashionable, it doesn't have to be the super plain designs.

And you can have your tattoos show anytime you are not at the hospital. Don't worry about class, it's casual just like your pre-reqs. And you can wear flip flops and all of that to skills lab. It's not like the science labs in pre-reqs either. Hope this helps!! I'm excited to be finishing the first semester of nursing school!!! It's been awesome!

I'm so excited!!!! :D

thank you for the info Student...helps us get a bit more clarification about things :) I can say we are all very excited to start this journey!!

It's awesome! I have had a great first semester. It is what you make it though, so always remember that. Keep a positive attitude (and it will be hard). NS is so tough, but also rewarding. Listen to advice from your instructors, study almost everyday, and practice in the skills lab. And of course take some time off for yourself and your family/friends. Just don't fall behind because you will have a heck of a time catching up if you can at all.

I met my closest nursing school buddies on Allnurses! I truly love them and am so glad to have them by my side in nursing school!! Good luck and I hope you all love it as much as I do.
